The air was filled with joy as everyone boarded the plane, ready to go home after their successful victory.
The airplane on which Karina had boarded, were using their communicating devices in order to keep in touch with the other airplane. They rejoiced about the how well the mission had went. Music filled their surroundings as they all sang in glee.
Karina remembered praising all of her team mates and began to sing along. But one can solve one problem, and ninthy nine more comes crashing their way...
Karina felt a wave of heat. She was too slow and it was too fast.
They were flying straight. Towards North if she wasn't mistaken. But suddenly, the plane began to fly downwards. She was confused. And as if that wasn't odd enough, she could still feel a great wave of heat clashing onto her, like an unwanted second skin.
Then smoke.
Where was this smoke coming from? Sure, a few of her team mates were smokers but they knew better than to smoke in closed doors.Dizzy. She felt dizzy.
Dizzy?
Yes. That was how she felt. And that was what made her to realize the situation she and many other people were in.
The plane had suffered from a great attack and it was going to crash.
The female quickly composed herself and as she tried to look out the window, due to the rough way the plane was falling, she slammed her head in one of the pilot's seats.
Groaning she grabbed unto it and rose up with fatigue.
She will never know how she did it, but the young girl was able to create a slide of ice right on time.
It certainly was not a soft landing, but at least, she was able to make them land without dying.Kicking the door that was now blocked due to the smoke, and successfully tearing it off its hinges after a few tries, she got out of the plane. She inspected it and was quick to notice the flames that was trying to eat away both the plane and her crew members. Acting quickly, she immediately put out the flames.
She let out a sigh of relief. But before she could look around to check where the other aircraft had vanished to, she heard a loud explosion in the distance. Turning to her left she saw a big fire, which had already engulfed the aircraft in its deathly embrace of scorching heat.
To say that her heart had stopped beating, and had sunk to the very pit of her stomach, would have been an understatement.Once again, time was no longer ticking.
How could this be?
How was she even here?
Wasn't she celebrating with her friends just a few minutes ago?
Why was everyone suddenly dead and unconscious?
Why couldn't she move?
Why wasn't she quick enough?
Footsteps. Footsteps of more than just one person. That was what had snapped the girl out of her trance.
Swiftly spinning around, she prepared herself for battle. Her gaze as cold and merciless as a blizzard itself.
People. Many people.
They had black robes on. She couldn't really tell what they were wearing underneath; but they were now surrounding her.Although looking forward, beyond the mass of coal dressed people, she saw someone who certainly stood out from the croud.
He wore a sleeveless red jacket. A long one, which reached his calves. It had a hood as well, and covered his head not even giving the female an idea of what his hair color could be. His arms were bare, portraying the ink that covered both his muscular arms. What they were suppose to look like, she could not tell from the distance between them.
Dark pants and boots covered his lower half.
His face; unknown. For he wore a mask. A mask that was painted and crafted in an odd way. It looked like it was from an Asian culture, maybe Chinese or Japanese, she wasn't sure. The mask portraid what seemed to be a monster with long teeth, like a saber toothed tiger. He sat on a boulder, one arm was raised. And that gave Karina an idea of what was going to happen.
He was keeping his arm up to apparently hold back his men. And the female knew that the minute that arm went down, things were not going to be pretty.
She took a relaxed stance, and prepared herself for the worst. As she stood, she made sure to look straight at the man in red, making sure her rage reached him through the sockets of his mask.
And with that said; he swung his arm down.
