SUMMER.

Summer was one wild ride for Emilia, but it was the most fun she had ever had in her whole life.

The morning after the fire, Klaus wanted a fresh start. Klaus didn't apologize, but Emilia thought he was too prideful to do so. Nonetheless, Emilia took what she could after the horrible day she had before and accepted it. Following that, Klaus would always call her Em as a reminder of their fresh start. Surprisingly, for the first time in what seemed like forever, Klaus allowed Emilia to leave the hotel room with him and get more clothes with his credit card. To say Emilia was happy would be an understatement. Emilia was overjoyed at having the ability to get whatever she wanted and not have to worry about the repercussions. Later that day, Emilia came back to the hotel carrying around 10 bags filled to the brim with clothes. Emilia went to sleep that night content, for the first time in a while.

Emilia had many nights like that where she finally felt somewhat content. During that summer, Emilia got to travel all over the country with Klaus. It was actually quite a nice trip for the both of them. The trip allowed them to bond over their mutual interest in traveling and they both slowed warmed up to one another. Klaus even offered to show Emilia how to fight to protect herself and by the end, she was able to defeat a vampire. She got to use all sorts of stakes but her favorite weapons were always knives because they could work against anyone. At the end of the summer, they both could consider each other friends.

Once the school year began, Emilia told Klaus she wanted to go back to her old high school. Not sure how he'd react, Emilia told him with a very nervous attitude. Surprisingly, Klaus agreed with no reservations. Thus, Emilia went back to school full time as well as working as Klaus's assistant.

During the next six months, their friendship continued to grow. Klaus admired Emilia's hard work ethic as she balanced both school and supernatural business. Eventually, Klaus asked Emilia to find a place where he could put things he needed in storage, so as Klaus's assistant she found a warehouse that could fit his coffins and anything else he might want safe. Klaus then made her do several other tasks like finding security guards for the warehouse, keep tabs on different wolf packs across America, and she even managed to find Greta, a witch who fell so in love in Klaus, she left her family for him. All the while, Zach distanced himself from Emilia. But suddenly in the middle of February, Zach started talking to her a lot out of the blue, and almost at least to Emilia seemed like he was trying to flirt with her. Even Brad, the senior football captain, who had previously been rude to her started to be nice and actually talk to her. However, somehow overtime Emilia's innocent mind began to develop feelings for Zach. Emilia thought it was funny how her feelings worked. Eventually, she and Klaus grew close enough where Emilia felt comfortable telling Klaus about her newfound feelings, but Klaus warned her not to trust Zach. Emilia thought he was warning her so she wouldn't leave him to go be with Zach, but she soon realized that he was right.

It was currently the beginning of March and Emilia was walking to school on her normal path after meeting Klaus early in the morning at the warehouse. While walking, she felt a huge gust of wind behind her and looked behind her but saw nobody. Emilia was slightly scared and thinking maybe it's Klaus texted him asking where he was. Klaus quickly responded and told her he was at the warehouse still. Emilia didn't respond and continued walking. A couple of seconds later, there's another gust of wind, and this time she catches it seeing long red hair flowing through the wind. However, before she could react, she was knocked out.
