Chapter 9:

Amy's POV:

The next couple of days went by faster than expected. We only had three more days until we went back home; or school. School was basically our home. We slept, ate, laughed, cried, and loved there. That's what pretty much happens in a home, right?

Two of those three days would be spent on the river, canoeing through rocks and rapids. I can't say I'm too thrilled. There's no hot water, no heat, and no dry air for two days. The worst part is, the forecast calls for pouring showers and thunderstorms.

I sighed as I began packing my over night bag for tomorrow's adventure, which was sure to get soaked. I packed worthless items; a hairbrush, towel, rain boots, an extra t-shirt, and a pair of long pants.

I looked around my cabin, and noticed everyone doing the same. I was worn out from a long day of caving and hiking in the rain and mud. I sighed and slipped on my warm pajamas, which were sure to keep me comfy through the night.

I hopped into my bunk and stretched, looking at everyone else around me. Taylor was sitting on top of her bunk, brushing her long, brown hair. Avery and Melissa were talking in the corner, probably gossiping over something stupid. We hadn't necessarily gotten 'close' to them, in fact, we never talked. I didn't mind them at first, but spending a week with them in a cabin showed me how much of snobs they both were. I reverted my gaze from them to Charlotte and Maggie, who were tossing and turning in their beds, trying to fall asleep. Lauren was who-knows-where, probably out sneaking around with Louis. The two of them had become very close over this trip, I couldn't help but think something serious was happening between them.

I quickly hopped out of bed and waltzed over to where the light switch was.

"Goodnight guys," I yawned.

A chorus of muffled good nights filled the room. I turned my head towards Avery and Melissa, noticing they were already under their covers. I sighed and flipped the switch, turning the room pitch black.

******* 3:32 a.m.*******

"Buzz Buzz Buzz Buzz Buzz," my phone vibrated from next to my head.

"Wha...?" I mumbled checking the collar I.D.

Liam.

"Hello?" I answered in a still tired voice.

"Hey," he rung in from the other line.

"And what's the meaning for calling me at 3:30 in the morning?" I giggled.

"Just to hear you beautiful voice..."

I could feel a blush start to form on my cheeks.

"Thanks," I smiled.

"Y-you're welcome."

"So... Can't sleep?" I giggled.

"Not really. I'm really concerned about canoeing. It's supposed to be freezing cold tomorrow and rainy, I don't want anything to happen to you."

Again, I felt a small smile creep across my face at his generosity.

"Thanks Liam. I'm sure I'll be fine, I'm a big girl," I beamed.

I heard him sigh from the other end of the call. I couldn't help another giggle escape my mouth, but I made sure not to wake up my sleeping cabin-mates.

"I know you are. But you are still staying with me at all times. Do you know how rough the water will be after it's been pouring? Amy Pete, you are never leaving my sight," Liam protested.
