Does Your love shine differently?
Is it a mystery beyond earthly grasp
Or the known Source to human intimacy?
Is the way of a man with his wife
And the passion that they share
To this Divine Married life
Can Your love even compare?
You are Beauty's Maker
And our joy's spring
Husband, because You are Savior
Through Your Spirit and Love Letters
You woo us and sing
Selah
Oh why Savior do I find myself
Lacking in words and fire?
Explain this gift You have dealt
For You are worthy of my fierce desire
Let not this indebted mortal be found lacking
Of a lover's heart and passion to give and belong
Why must he be desperate in grasping
An exaltation that should surpass all romantic songs?
Why am I uplifted by a mortal's written passion
But cannot in turn write for You?
Is this Beauty any different from the human love You fashioned?
To exaltation, by Your love why am I not moved?
Explain o wise among the people of God
Why don't we have a love like mortal love, for Him?
God should be more than this created thing He's brought
O beware my soul, that the lack to describe
Is not from lack of your constant communion
