I somehow managed to convince Maku to let me have the rest of the week off school so that I didn't have to see Jace or any of his friends. He convinced the principal that I had eaten some bad fish and had gotten food poisoning. Luckily the principal was male so Maku just sang to him to make it settle a bit better. I knew I was hiding but I'm good at that. I wasn't prepared to hide. I wasn't prepared to go to school for one day and find a mate and have to tell him my secret. I hear howling every night Jaces howling it breaks my heart that I'm the reason for his pain but it has to be this way. I know that they have been asking Maku but he is loyal to me and hasn't said a word. I also know that they've been to the beach every night looking for me. I haven't been to the water in a week. I didn't want to risk being caught by them.

I was getting desperate. I needed to go to the water, I needed to swim. It was the middle of the day on Friday. I knew they would be in school this would be the perfect time to go. So I got ready and made my way down to the cellar where the porthole was. My idea was to swim to the beach where I'd left my stuff and then walk back. It shouldn't take me long so I should be back before they finish school. I dove in feeling more relaxed as my body transformed into its natural state. I swam straight to the beach making sure this time not to swim on the surface even though no one would be out at this time of the day I wasn't making that mistake again. When I got to the beach I made sure to drag myself behind some rocks to change into a human. I pulled on the large t-shirt then ran towards the rocks I had stored my stuff under. I pulled on my shorts and picked up my stuff and I then made my way home. What I didn't know then was that someone had seen me at the beach and had followed me home and they were all to eager to tell who sent them where I lived.
