It was a day before the election day.
Karamatsu was getting ready to began his day as usual when he heard a knock on his door.
"Come in!"
Slowly, Ichimatsu stepped inside. He had a worried expression on his face. "You look calm," he said. Karamatsu nodded, a smile on his face. "I may look like tomorrow is just a normal day. But to be honest, I am scared."
"Because you might fail the plan?"
"No. I am scared for you."
Ichimatsu raise his eyebrows.
"You don't have to be," he then said, "I'll be fine."
"What would you do after everything is done?" Karamatsu asked. Ichimatsu lean on the doorframe, "Live my life as usual. You might never see me again." Karamatsu nodded, chuckling a little. But Ichimatsu couldn't help but notice disappoinment in his eyes.
"Mr Karamatsu!" Choroko came in, "Your window is done."
"Thank you. Oh, yeah. Ichimatsu, how are you feeling today?"
"Fine."
"Great! Then—Choroko, you may go now."
Choroko pout but did what she was told to do. Karamatsu smiled and turned back to Ichimatsu, "As I was saying, let's have a walk."
Karamatsu gently pull Ichimatsu.
"Where are we going?" Ichimatsu asked nervously. "We're going for a walk outside the mansion."
The two were quite a sight together, Karamatsu pulling on Ichimatsu's sleeve and Ichimatsu following wherever Karamatsu go. "Do you like flowers, Ichimatsu?" Karamatsu suddenly asked. Ichimatsu just shrug, "I sometimes see one. But I don't know if I like them or not."
Karamatsu nodded.
"Do you have any family members?"
"My family gave me up a long time ago. It's part of the reason why I became an assassin. Besides that, I have a cat."
"Really? So you like cats?"
"Very much."
"Cute."
Ichimatsu's face flushed red. This guy is so weird, he thought.
After some time, they were already walking out of the mansion. "Lucky!" Karamatsu exclaimed, "Today is a bright day. Perfect for a simple walk, right Ichimatsu?"
"...right..."
Ichimatsu face was bright red again, so he purposely walk slowly so that he could get behind Karamatsu. Which made it even worse.
He look like he has soft hair, Ichimatsu thought. Suitable for those pathetic eyes of his.
"Did you say something, Ichimatsu?"
"Wh-what?"
"I heard you say something," Karamatsu was looking at him. Did I seriously said that out loud... Ichimatsu flick his tongue in annoyance, "I didn't." "A-ah...okay."
They walk in silence, everyone passing by ignore their presence.
"Ichimatsu..?"
"Hm?"
"Are you sure you don't want to stay?"
Ichimatsu blink. "I...I am sure. I am already overstaying and it felt like I am taking advantage of your generosity."
"You're not."
"I still won't stay. Tomorrow is the day I'll leave and we'll never see each other again."
"So there's nothing I can do to change your mind..?"
"...nothing..."
"As I thought..."
Karamatsu look down on the floor, his brown eyes glistening behind his dark sunglasses. The rejection was too much to bear. He then look up and smile, "Well, if you need help, I'm always waiting."
The tears was invisible behind those sunglasses, so Ichimatsu didn't notice it.
But Karamatsu's voice cracked, so he knew something was wrong. Just didn't know what to do.
The two decided to call it a day and went back to the mansion.
