Chapter 7: Chaotic Meeting

Jack Frost

Despite the dark and eerie ambiance that had been wrapping the whole hall of the dining room, the long table of silver and black stone that reaches meters of distance was filled with warm and healthy food. It was unexpected for a witch hiding in an abandoned haunted castle to hold this kind of hospitality to her visitors.

"So..." Befanny spoke in her usual Italian accent, turning her head around the place, checking the vacant expensive seats. Bunnymund and I sat down, with Sandy in between us to avoid conflict in case it would happen. "...everyone present for breakfast?"

The live broom that had been following her tail all of this time, rotated its full body, irritating what she had been doing earlier while checking the attendance. Then, he hopped towards her, trying to reach for her ear to give a whisper. I don't even think it can speak then why bother lowering the voice?

"Oh, right, Kiki... umm..." Befanny jumped on her seat as her eyes widened out of surprise in a slight second. It seems she forgot another important guest of the table, which I didn't expect her to have. "I guess we'll wait for–"

Irritated, Bunny suddenly stood up from his seat out of the blue, releasing a screeching noise that could hurt the drums. This caught the attention of everyone inside the room, turning their heads to see him. Now, all the attention is on him right now.

"Look, mate. We don't have time for croissants and hot milk." He said with mad glares, as he didn't want to deal with the witch on the other side of the table. "We have a very important thing to do right now than just eating breakfast."

"Aww..." I couldn't help but to lean my elbow on the table and let my head rest on my palms, staring at his posture with a tilted vision in my eyes, now mocking him with my attitude. "...is it really that important?"

Then the glares that were for Befanny, now turned around and pointed at me instead. I didn't do anything than just raising an eyebrow.

"Just shut up, snow yeti." He insulted, still sticking the glances he had been showing since the time that we arrived here. Then, he went out of his chair and confronted me with his anger, passing through the Sandman who failed to stop him from his tracks. "I should have gone to my Warren preparing for Easter if it wasn't for you and that– dream of yours."

"Hey, listen." I tried to fight, and stood up with a confident chest, trying to win over him in terms of a dangerous aura. When I fought him in height, I might lose, but I didn't let it destroy my reputation. "I didn't even ask you to come here. You should–"

     "Wait, wait, wait!"

All of a sudden, Befanny entered the battle of words that we were having, standing up from her seat of honor and tried to interrupt the argument that we started. It looks like she didn't like what we are doing right now.

"You shouldn't fight in front of me, especially, inside of my lair." She said as she rested her hands on her waist. "All the atmosphere around me should be pure atmosphere, so all the people around me should be pure people."

"So gentlemen sat down on your table and discuss your business here." She added, gesturing us to go back to our seats and the argument once and for all. Before sitting, Bunny gave me a death glare. I did the same but turned around to see Befanny who was still talking.

At the tall door of dark marbles in front of us, a group of floating chef costumes entered the hall, pushing carts after carts of food covered by cloche trays. The chefs finally walked on our side, putting the enclosed meal on the table.

"Che bello! The cookies and cakes are here!" Befanny exclaimed, clapping as the breakfast of this morning is finally complete with the cakes that she just ordered to cook. "Eat first, don't be shy."

I'm not that really hungry to eat all of the servings, but since she gave us a warm welcome despite my attempt to intruding her castle, I decided to take a bite. I grabbed a fork and poked it at the pile in front of me, slicing a piece of the top cake. I ate the piece and chewed it down.

After munching the small food, I felt a strange feeling flowing down into my body. Every chew gave me a sense of relaxation and enlightenment. It's like the argument we have earlier wasn't that actually brutal. It wasn't, but the fact that this food is massaging my brain is not a normal person could do.

I raised my head and saw Befanny staring at my face, plastering a warm smile. Our eyes locked at each other, much to my surprise. Her soft brown hair that flows until the floor and the porcelain soft skin surrounding her very existence, I was lost in those. I could feel my cheeks started to raise the heat, so I averted my eyes.

She turned her head around to see Bunny, who was also feeling the same sensation as I felt after eating the cake.

"So..." She said. "...did you calm down, Mr. Rabbit?"

With this, my companion's tall ears grew even taller, and his eyes gave a deadly glare at the witch that gave him the insult.

"Don't call me Mr. Rabbit!" He yelled but decided to not burst out from anger, in respect of the owner of the castle. "I'm the Easter Bunny!"

The glares that he gave her and the mock face she showed to him started to heat up, giving me a hint that this will continue if no one will stop the argument. Sandy, who was just quietly eating the cake, grabbed a part of my hoodie. I looked at him, as he signaled me to stop the two. I sighed at the task he was given to me. I don't mind them fighting at all, since that would be hilarious, but we are here for our mission.

"We're here to convince Ombric about a request." I interrupted since I knew that Bunnymund will take this even further later if I won't change the subject that they were trying to argue. I don't stop it, I mean, it's too funny to tease him sometimes.

Befanny rotated towards me as she heard my voice.

    "Oh, Father Time?" She said.

"We know that the old man only talked to you, mate." Bunny then replied, now with a more calm and collected manner, trying to speak with the matter clearly and without any arguments.

"Hmm... well, you have the perfect timing in getting here." She let out a smirk as she stood up from her seat and grabbed her waist.

"He actually took a vacation to the Bigger Ben." She added. "I'll take you there."

The three of us looked at each other with amusement on our faces, delighted to hear that we were about to face Ombric Shalazar. I've never the Father Time before, but now that I'm about to, I could finally have a clue of who was the glowing man during my dreams.

"Great. Now that was settled, let's hop on!"
