Donovan's Pov

I'd never fallen in love. It wasn't out of a lack of trying, many humans sparked my interest before but I never felt romantically inclined to them. I'd been told by Tammy Norburn the town seamstress said that it's called being Aromantic but I've never liked to label myself. I walked through town to said seamstress' shop, saying hello to the occasional passer-by. The door ringed with the nostalgic ding of a bell and Tammy's eyes lifted off the book she was reading to see me.

"AY Donovan! I thought you'd never show up!" She smiled, bits of her blonde hair fell over her glasses.

"My apologies," I said walking over to her, "I could not find my sunhat this morning."

"I keep telling you to get a hat rack," She commented, though her eyes softened with concern, "How's your sunburn healing?"

"Not fast enough." Earlier in the summer I'd accompanied Tammy to the beach, just to see what it was like, but the sun got the best of me. The nasty burns were still on my body. That was the day I came up with the excuse of me being a branch of albino, to explain the severity of the burns.

Tammy sighed, looking me right in the eyes, "You really should go to the doctor about that."

 "I know."

Just then a customer entered and the topic was dropped. I went to hanging up clothes and folding fabrics. Helping her out with the shop was the least I could do for all her kindness. After about an hour or two, Tammy joined me in the backroom to 'eat lunch'. Tammy always made me lunch when she realized I never brought anything to eat. Always something rich in vitamin D since I couldn't get sun directly. Honestly, her efforts were endearing. Egg and Mushroom was today's meal. We were deep in a conversation when the door rang.

"Shit," She hissed, "I must have forgotten to switch the sign."

"I'll get it." I said plainly, pushing myself out of my seat. Picking up the clipboard that documented the sales. Tammy muttered a thank you as I walked out of the back room.

"Sorry for the wait, how can I help you-" I looked up from the paper to see a man with short, brown curly hair and a beard. He was wearing a tank top and shorts.

"Oh no worries," The man said, his tone bouncy and joyous, "I'm Micheal Oren, New in town."

"...Donovan Ernest," I replied, my face felt hot as I spoke, "How can I help you?"

"Well... I sorta need a complete new wardrobe," Micheal trailed, rubbing the back of his neck. His completely exposed neck, I had to snap myself out of it as he continued, "Could I set up a fitting?"

I couldn't seem to find the words, my mind drew a complete blank, "uhh-"

"Of course you can!" Tammy said, coming up behind me, "Doesssss Tuesday at 2 pm work?"

"Umm, sure." He said with a quirked smile.

"Great! See you then!!!!!" She smiled with a wave, continuing until he left. She turned to me suddenly, "Okay what the fuck was just going on?"

"I'm sorry I-," I faltered, "I don't know what came over me."

"OoOOoOOoo does someone have a crush?" She asked, practically purring.

"I don't-," My sigh over comes my nerve, I pinch the bridge of my nose, "I don't know."

"Well maybe the blush all across your face could help you figure it out."

"Oh shit in your hand and clap."

Tammy snorted at that. But this wasn't a laughing matter for me. I haven't craved blood for months and now it was flaring up again. Disappointment in myself grew in seconds. I'd been clean for so long. I couldn't. Guilt flooded my body and I left Tammy to fend to her shop alone for the rest of the day. Maybe I could sleep it off. I hoped I could sleep it off.
