Dusk's P.O.V.

I woke up early, right after the sun rose, I walked out of my room into our just furnished kitchen. I had picked out a nice oak table that came with six chairs. Snow had complained we only needed two or three at most. I expected guests at some point in time, but Snow didn't care for that idea. I looked into our cabinets, that Snow had fixed up nicely, and saw little food left.
"Ugh, more shopping," I murmured to myself and remembered my sore feet from the day before.
I grabbed our only pan and a spoon and some sausage, that was thankfully not bad after setting over night in the snow. I started a fire and cooked up a large amount of sausage on it. I cooked a few biscuits also and put sausage on them. I put one plate of food on the hearth to keep it warm so Snow could sleep a while and still have a warm breakfast. I ate my food and walked into the living room that had a small new leather couch and chair in it, after starting a fire I picked up a book off the new little table I got.
As I looked at the cover I said to myself,"I can understand the No F... people's symbols."
"Hmm, sounds odd."
I opened it and read about strange things. It said stuff about the first people and animals, I found it interesting and read till I heard Snow lumber out of bed and say.
"Mmm, I smell food." she said.
I walked back into the kitchen and said,"I saved some for you."
Snow mumbled sleepily back,"Thanks."

I asked,"You want some water?"
Snow nodded. I filled up four cups with snow.
"Brr, it is freezing," I said as I walked back inside and slammed the door.
As I entered the kitchen again, Snow said with a grin,"You shouldn't go out in a night gown and don't slam the door so hard I just fixed it."
"Har har, hilarious," I replied.
After sitting by the fire, the snow melted and I took a cup over to Snow and set another by my chair. I sprinkled some herbs I had bought in the other two. Snow wrinkled her nose as I brought a cup with herbs in it to her.
"It's tea," I snorted, slightly irritated.
"Whatever," she mumbled as she tasted it.
"It's OK," we said in unison, though it was obvious I enjoyed mine more than she did.
As we sat I said," There is a book in the living room that's odd, but interesting."
Then I remembered what I wanted to ask her,"Uh, Snow will you build me a small shed I can grow plants in?"
She laughed and replied,"In the middle of winter."
I looked at her pleadingly and she finally said,"It will be small."
She rinsed her dishes and put them in a cabinet where I kept our few we had.

I dressed in tight black pants and a cream colored camisole, over that I put on a warm grey sweater and a black hat. After pulling on black boots I left my room and found Snow outside fixing up our covered porch with the used hammer and some nails I had gotten her.
"Need anything?"
"Yes, I need more lumber and nails for your shed, a lot of both," she finished just as a gust of wind blew her scarf in her face.
I left and grinned as I said over my shoulder,"You need to learn to pick outfits."
I laughed as I thought of her outfit, it wasn't to bad except her purple pants didn't go with her red sweater, orange scarf, and white hat.
"She'll get better," I said to myself.

I walked into town and smiled at an elderly man who smiled gently back.  I walked into a hardware store and asked the man behind the counter,"Do you have a very large package of nails?"
He nodded, I continued,"Also do you have lumber here I need a lot of it?"
He smiled broadly and said," Lot o' lumber here it's ma specialty."
After hiring a man to take the lumber to the cabin I went into the local market and picked up some stuff. I walked back into the hard ware store and asked about some other things. The kind man stocked me up with parts and I headed home.
On my way out of town the elderly man I had seen before saw me struggling to carry my stuff and walked up and asked,"Do you need help young lady?"
I politely turned away his offer, but he insisted. He took my heaviest bag and walked beside me on the snowy road.

I discovered he had been forced from his home recently cause the taxes were raised so high on his small home he couldn't pay them. As we approached the cabin I saw the lumber that had been brought neatly stacked on the porch it was then I realized how much I had ordered.
The young man who had brought it came over to me and said,"That should cost you about fifty bucks."
I handed it to him and said,"Thank you, uuh.."
"Strider," he finished.
The sun lit up his fiery red hair, I suddenly noticed his oddly bright green eyes, he smiled, then left. "Where should I take these, Dusk, that is what ya said your name was right?"
I snapped out of my day dreams and replied,"Yep, follow me, I must warn you my friend is not friendly, she may act like she dislikes you too."
We walked in the house and immediately Snow made an annoyed grumpy sound and walked off.

"Please, don't mind her," I said apologetically.
He smiled as an answer.
After putting away everything, I turned to the man, whose name was Mountain, and said just as he was leaving,"Oh, do stay, at least for dinner."
He smiled and shook his head, but I insisted so he said,"I'll stay only for dinner."
After seating him in the living room, I walked into Snow's room where I found her sitting on a window seat staring outside. She turned her head towards me as I entered the room and glowered at me. I sat next to her and explained about the man. After my story, I could tell she felt some sympathy for the man, though she didn't show it at all on the outside. After convincing Snow to eat dinner in the kitchen, I cooked some ham, I also made tea. I convinced Mountain to stay through the night so I fixed up a room for him and filled his tub with warm water. After bidding Mountain and Snow good night, I laid down in my bed and pondered recent happenings till I fell asleep.
