Fever by itself is a bothersome thing. But fever in the middle of summer, is another story. That was the situation she was in. As if the internal heat was not enough to make her feel like a glowing bulb, but the external heat surrounding her ensured her that she was the sole culprit behind the increasing global warming in the world.
The guilt made her roll into a ball under the blanket. The position felt good, stretching some dormant muscles in her body while relaxing some tired ones. But the relief didn't last long. Before she had to roll around in another position, using the little ATP she had. Another thing about fever, it is another word for loneliness. Fever makes you lonely, it makes you feel different from the rest of the world. Even though she would have preferred her own company on any other day, today her cells were not cool to hang around with.
While she lied there, drowning in loneliness, she started ti feel bad for fever itself. She wondered if fever was also lonely, being hated by everyone it approached. But the truth was nobody hated fever, maybe intense and passionate dislike, but not hate. But did fever know that. Maybe not. Maybe that was the reason it always hanged around with bad company. She truly believed sore throat, blocked nasal cavity and their pals were bad company. But she couldn't blame fever, they were there when it felt alone and tortured by weapons called paracetamol. No wonder fever misunderstood humans so much.
She turned around once again. She was aware that the fever might have made her a little delusional, but her feeling were very real, at that time. She embraced fever with open arms, knowing she felt the same as fever, feeling fever reciprocate her feelings and embrace her as well. As she started to loose consciousness, she knew at at least the next day she won't be lonely and would again be in company of humans, unlike fever.
