"My ice cream has brought everyone together- every famous loving couple in Paris!"
~André Glacier
A few days had passed since the lovebird teenagers Marinette and Adrien had found each other and André still felt the happy glow that came with helping successfully match two people in love. He looked up at the top edge of the cart roof where he posted photos of his celebrity matches and smiled fondly at the photo of Marinette and Adrien. André had chosen to include the teenage couple mostly because he had never felt stronger magic with his ice cream scoops than he did with them, though Adrien was also a famous model, so he did qualify for the cart photo spot. He walked over to the bell and rang it, hoping to get some more customers for the day before he headed home. When no one immediately came, he sat down on the cart's bike seat to wait a few minutes before he tried again.
Suddenly, a flash of red and black raced by the cart. Startled by the sudden action in the otherwise quiet evening, the sweetheart matchmaker almost fell off his seat. He resettled himself and then turned his head to watch Ladybug and Cat Noir apparently chasing after some unseen supervillain. The superheroes quickly disappeared from view and André frowned slightly, remembering that he still hadn't found those two their perfect matches. In all of the excitement of helping Marinette and Adrien, he had forgotten how it seemed that he had failed both Ladybug and Cat Noir. Neither had been happy with their ice cream flavors and neither had found their true love. He sighed and reached over to ring the bell again, hoping some customers would arrive to distract him. When there were still no customers wanting his ice cream he heaved himself off the seat and walked behind the cart. He noticed a fallen spoon on the ground, bent down to pick it up, and was surprised to see two familiar faces awaiting him when he stood up.
André warily examined the two superheroes in front of him, uncertain what to expect, but was relieved to see that they were both smiling widely.
"Hi, André!" said Ladybug with a little wave.
"Hey, André!" said Cat Noir, still grinning.
"Good evening, you two. And how are you tonight? A successful battle and a person no longer akumatized I would guess then? I saw you race by a few minutes ago," said André.
"Yes, it was very easy to find and capture the akuma," said Ladybug.
"So, we have a few minutes for your delicious ice cream," continued Cat Noir.
André glanced between the two superheroes. It seemed to him that they both were quite eager for the ice cream tonight. He nodded.
"Of course! I will get you your cones!" said André. He busied himself getting the cones ready. He scooped up the first cone- peach, mint, and chocolate- and handed it to Ladybug. Then, raspberry, blackberry, and blueberry were scooped up and handed to Cat Noir. The two superheroes each looked at their cones and then looked at each other and smiled.
"Thanks, André!" Ladybug and Cat Noir said in unison. They turned around and started to walk toward a nearby bench, quietly chatting to each other.
André watched them go, his mouth opened slightly in confusion at the superheroes' unmistakeable happiness with their cone flavors. He so wondered exactly what had happened to change their feelings. Seconds later he came to the obvious conclusion. How could I be so dense? Of course, love! Love changed everything! They must have each finally realized who their true loves were!
And then he remembered his plan. "Wait! Ladybug! Cat Noir! Would you please come back for a minute?" André called.
The two superheroes stopped and slowly turned around. And if André wasn't mistaken, they both appeared a bit nervous.
As Ladybug and Cat Noir approached him, he hooked an arm through each of theirs and gently pulled them over to the cart. He positioned them next to each other in front of the cart and then backed up.
"May I take a photo of the two of you? Please tell me if I am wrong, but, you have finally found your true loves, yes?" André asked eagerly.
The two teenagers blushed and nodded.
"Wonderful! Wonderful! Then, may I take a photo to add to my 'Successful Matches' display," he said as he gestured to the photos on his cart.
Ladybug wondered whether it was really the best idea to let the world know that they were both in love, but decided that since they each had their own cones, no one could possibly guess that she and Cat Noir were in love with each other.
She was about to give a nod of assent when Cat Noir eagerly replied "Yes, a photo would be purr-fect!" He shot her his lop-sided grin in response to her disapproving frown.
"Ladybug?" asked André, wanting to make sure both superheroes agreed.
"Okay," she replied, giving him a shrug.
André brought up his camera. "Say 'ice cream'!"
Ladybug and Cat Noir held their cones out in front of them and chimed out "ice cream!".
The camera clicked. "Thank you! Now, go and relax with the magic ice cream! I will see you again soon, yes?" André asked.
"Yes and thank you for everything, André," said Ladybug and she turned around to join Cat Noir over on a bench.
André smiled fondly at the teenager. He was so glad he could help her. He quickly printed out a photo on the little photo printer he kept under the cart and then walked around to the front of the cart. The row of celebrity couples that he helped to match was quite full already, but there was definitely room for one more! He reached up and moved the photos over and then placed the new one in a place of honor right in the middle. It was true that the two in the photo were not actually the couple that he helped get together, however, no one could expect them to pose with their true loves. Their identities must remain just as much of a secret as Ladybug's and Cat Noir's. No matter! I know that my ice cream did its magic.
André turned his attention back to the superheroes on the bench in time to see them clink their cones together in a celebration of some sort. A bright purple spark exploded where the two cones touched and then quickly disappeared. What was that? André's eyebrows raised in surprise. That was strong magic, could it be that Ladybug and Cat Noir are more than partners? The sweetheart matchmaker watched Ladybug take a bite of her ice cream and then lean toward Cat Noir and giggle at something he said. And her giggle caused a lop-sided grin to appear on Cat Noir's face.
André's own face spread into a wide smile. Maybe he was in on the secret. Ah, true love!
