ACE
The last thing I expected when I spotted my sister, was to see her facing a Magnate holding a laptop out to Talon. The laptop's exterior was scratch-free, with stickers from all around the world plastered on it. There's no way Paige owned shit like that.
The Magnate that did, was Sadie Gallagher. I almost punched a damn wall when I saw her. Why is it so hard to get rid of this Bitch.
Behind me, I felt Two-pick rustling up his clothes, and tousling his hair right. My jaw set to keep my teeth from grating. She ain't even look that pretty.
The moment I took in her gentle figure balanced uncomfortably on a rickety stool was a lie. Even without trying, her eyelashes batted, her lips pursed, and those damn eyes; I hated those fuckers, she had the kind of gaze that could bring kings down from their thrones just to get a better look.
Two-pick checked his breath. Before he had a chance to do whatever other shit he wanted, I spoke, "Who's a lot different?"
Disappointment flattened Two-pick's pride when Sadie spotted me first, and instantly started shaking. When I first met her, I thought she was a damn chihuahua, Now I know she's just a little bitch.
Talon pulled back from the laptop screen and gaze us a lazy smile. Two-pick knocked fists with him while I left him hanging.
"Ace, thank god you're here." Diana's voice sagged with relief, and my muscles went taut.
"Why, What happened?" Paige's eyes widened at the urgency in my voice.
Sadie flinched back at the accusing finger thrown in her direction. "She's messing with Paige."
Sadie's spine went stiff as a board.
My eyes narrowed into slits. Even though I'd already busted every part of my body fighting my skin still burned, still itched for a fight; even if it was physical.
"She didn't do anything," Paige tried to argue.
"The fuck are you doing to my sister?!" Attention from the bar was focused only on us. I recognized a few Scants milling about. Their lazed smiles twisted into ones of fierce attention. Whispers floated around the room, and bodies settled. Everyone was ready for a show.
A question struck me, and I slowed down to think. Why would Sadie Gallagher risk coming to a place like this?
Two-pick took the opportunity to move between us, and quiet the argument. "Paige's fine, n' Sadie's here for a reason, so let's find out what that reason is before flipping out." He threw a not-so-subtle smile at Sadie. Her torso relaxed slightly, but she didn't smile back.
"Great job," Diana clapped her hands sarcastically slow. "Two-pick, ladies and gentlemen, always the mediator."
He flashed her a toothy smile and wink. "It's what I do."
Talon had taken to kicking around empty beer bottles in an effort to be clean. He wiped down his dirty hands and tried to rub a stain out of his denim vest. Even Diana fiddled with her makeup. Sadie didn't hafta to look tough to intimidate everyone; the sight of her unscathed converse and sleek ponytail did the job just fine.
She looked like a queen surrounded by a bunch of low-lifes. The worst part was seeing how out of place she felt, or the obvious effort she'd put into blending in. Girls like her didn't blend in at places like this, no matter how bland they dressed.
