According to the legend of Kouka
At the beginning, the Gods would just watch over humans and see how would they fair. Giving them trials and punishments to see if they were easily corrupted or even still believe in them.
Persuading them with riches, glory and all the human heart desired, but there was one simple price to pay. To forsake the Gods, loathe them.
Not long after, they were right. Their heart became dark so easily that it was engulfed with hatred. Fighting over such trivial things like money, power and control.
Up at the heavens, six dragon Gods watched over them.
Hakuryū, Seiryū, Ryokuryū, Ouryū, Hiryū and finally Heirkuryū.
Some of the dragons watched the humans with disgust, when they blamed God for everything they had encountered. When it is them who is at fault, their own kind for turning against each other.
But the brother and sister, Hiryū and heirkuryū loved them despite what they become when their hearts turned soil.
So the crimson and black dragon Gods turned into human to live among them and lead the kingdom.
Hiryū was crowned king and Heirkuryū stayed by his side. Smiles and laughter followed them, as they learned more about the beautiful world they were setting on.
The pair loved humans so much, but not long after they had to fight them.
The human heart was filled with corruption and evil, forgetting the Gods.
The kingdom fell.
He, the crimson dragon king was captured by these corrupted savages, pointing spears around him. Along with his sister who hated violence, was held captive while the humans stared at her with such lust.
Hiryū begged them to her alone, while the other begged for him to be left alive.
Their love for each other was unmeasured. Both did not care what will happen to themselves.
Just before he was about to be killed and Heirkuryū being touched.
Four dragons came down from heaven.
They pleaded for their brother and sister to go home and leave this tainted human world, they asked them to kill the humans.
They were furious how they treated their brother and especially their sister, who the humans had such grim, ruthless thoughts of her.
They, without love, faith, or even the ability to learn
despite that, they refused strongly
Even if they betray them and hate them, they cannot stop their love for them.
The dragons who loved their brother and sister dearly wished to not lose them.
So to protect both, They gave their blood to humans. Each one being their avatar giving them their power.
One was given sharp claws that could slash anything
One was given eyes that could see far ahead
One was given the ability to jump high, reaching the heavens
Finally, One was given a body that cannot be destroyed.
The four dragons who came down loved both dearly so they were given a gift
The crimson dragon was bestowed a beautiful gold pendant, signalling he was the ruler.
The black dragon did not like fighting nor violence so she was blessed with a gift from the heavens, the power to heal.
