Friendship Has No Goodbye

Chapter 14

The gang was all set for Alisha’s birthday. They planned for a Navy themed cake as Alisha had aspirations of becoming a Navy Officer. They headed to her home at midnight with the cake, and the look of delight on her face when she saw the cake was priceless. They all took pictures, cut the cake and the group went home but not before talking to Alisha’s mom in private and asking her for permission to decorate the house during the day.

In the morning, while Alisha was busy with her classes, the group came to her home, fully prepared to set up a good birthday decor. Naisha couldn’t make it unfortunately as she had another event to attend. They stuck balloons to her ceiling and hung rows of her pictures on the wall. The end result looked really pretty. Alisha was surprised by the pretty decor and a little amused when she saw the cake.
[A few moments before] The cake fell off the bed and got a little ruined. The guys looked at each other with the expression of ‘Oh Fuck’. But thankfully it wasn’t completely destroyed and could be salvaged.

All was good. They clicked pictures, had a good laugh about the cake and Alisha thanked the guys for the lovely birthday they had given her. She gave them her birthday treat a few days later at Annaleela. Due to some misunderstanding in the group, a fight erupted and Jack left the table abruptly. The rest of the group went behind him to talk it out, while Ash and Selene stayed at the table. They sorted it out lightly and to calm the mood, went for a movie. As Leo didn’t have enough money for the ticket, Alisha’s anger was slowly boiling. She didn’t let it out totally, but you could make out their issues had not been completely sorted.

This resulted in a disappointing birthday for Jack. Before midnight, Leo had texted that no one would be able to make it since no one had planned anything. But at midnight, Alisha and Ash arrived at his place with a cake. Alisha’s mom had convinced her to go as Jack had helped in making everyone else’s birthdays a great success. This midnight didn’t have the charm of other birthdays as it usually did.

Alisha and Ash stayed for the cake cutting and then went home. The only good memory Jack has of that midnight is that his uncle surprised him with a bottle of Champagne when he had come home at midnight to wish him. Leo and the rest of the gang weren’t even aware that Alisha and Ash had gone to Jack’s place at midnight. Since Jack was usually the one to take the initiative to make birthday groups, He decided to sit out for Leo’s birthday.

And since no one else made any plans, Leo’s birthday wasn’t celebrated. On the day of his birthday, the 1st of December, he and Jack thought of giving a treat together. But everyone else declined as they had plans. Gary wouldn’t have minded coming but he wasn’t familiar with Jack’s other group of friends. Therefore, Jack took only his other friends for lunch at Mirwah and then had dinner with his family. Jack felt a pang of sadness as he really missed his friends this birthday
