Emée's Point of View

Surprisingly, Alexandre didn't come right away in the bedroom once I was brought back by the guards. Lunch had been brought to me and I was now wondering what would happen.

Obviously, the Queen didn't believe me. Why? She thought I was looking for some royal protection! To think she was plotting with Alexandre this whole time...

I was scared of what they would do to me, she had probably had told him everything by now and he was thinking about his punishment or worse, how to get rid of me.

Surely they couldn't kill me, Alexandre had presented me to the whole court and with my little outburst this morning, they probably knew who I was now.

The afternoon passed slowly, I felt like a prisoner about to be executed. I was watching the gardens on the balcony when I heard the door being unlocked. I didn't turn around, I knew it was Alexandre but he didn't say a word as he usually did. Now that I thought about it, maybe standing by the balcony wasn't the smartest thing to do as he could easily push me but he would have already killed much more efficiently if he wanted to.

The silence made me more and more curious and I gave in, turning around to acknowledge his presence. Right in front of me wasn't Alexandre but Sébastien.

"I have a lot explanations to do." He said. Indeed, he had.

What was he doing here? His presence was so unexpected, it felt like a dream. Good or bad, I couldn't tell distinguish them anymore. I wanted to ask many questions but I waited for him to start talking.

"I've been working for some time with Alexandre now." He admitted. I could see that he was trying to keep a strong facade to hide his guilt. Despite all of his teasing, Sébastien was an angel and we .

"Go on." I said, trying not to sound surprised.

"He said that if I helped him, he would be able to get me a very good position in the royal court."

"Don't try to justify yourself, Sébastien." I cut him off. "Because of you, I don't know if I'll ever be able to ever be free again." The knot in my voice betrayed my voice, giving out all the despair I was drowning in. I was so sick of crying all the time, sometimes I wished I had the emotional abilities of demons who knew how to control them. I had nothing: neither emotional stability nor the intelligence.

"I am so sorry, I didn't know he would go this far!" He exclaimed, throwing his arms around the room. "He asked me to help him find you, he also needed information about your gift and said he needed it. He never mentioned the whole kidnapping thing and certainly not the fact that you would get married. How could I have known that he was so deep in the manipulation of the court? Even I was fooled!"

"I don't care anymore, it's not like you're important to me." I said coldly. "You can drop the diner and leave if that's all."

"I'm sorry, I hope that you understand me." I knew he was doing that in case he was to be caught, he wants to sound like the victim instead of the accomplice. But a small part of me really prayed he was genuine, he was my only hope of getting out of here.

"I am also here to give you some information about your wedding. Alexandre charged me to say that the past events convinced him to finish the union as quickly as possible. You both will be wed in two days, the ceremony will be quite private according to him. Tomorrow you will be sent to see the sewers for your dress." He told everything mechanically, I didn't really react at the news. The Queen had made some threats but I knew the demon wasn't that stupid and killing me would be a big mistake of his so wedding it was. Anyway, I had been undergoing everything that has happened in this castle so far.
