The sunrise

In the beginning

When Devin started he was but a little boy a boy with a dream to become better to become the best. Growing up in a civilised world where his parents were rich, rich beyond anything any common folk could imagine the power his father had was hidden from him until Devin turned 15.
When Devin turned 15 his father sat him down this made him anxious as his father never spoke to only him he had conversations with his mother at the dinner table and had spoken with people about his father but he had never spoken to just his father come to think of it he had never really seen his father in years. "Boy it's time I told you about what you are going to need to know about the business for starters you will need to marry a woman of my choosing".
Devin looked confused "father it has been years since I even saw you and now your expecting me to take over a business I have no idea about". "My boy I don't care if you think your ready or not you have a job to do when I die you need to take your place as the rightful heir". Not a moment later a group of men walked in the room and Devin was taken away as his father began talking with a small man with a bowler hat. He only heard a few words of what his father was saying "sal you own me a lot of money now I've been very lenient but my patience is running thin you have three day or there will be a lot of trouble".
"of course sir I will get you the five million dollars first thing Monday morning". That was the first weekend where Devin was concerned as to what he would have to do and what this job would entail. That night at dinner his father ate with both Devin and his mother "hunny it nice to see you joining us tonight for this wonderful dinner".
Devins mother seemed confused by his fathers sudden appearance for this wasn't a usual thing to happen. Devin ate his dinner with his head down until his fathers voice boomed "have you thought about what I said boy".
Devin looked up suddenly to make eye contact with his father "yes sir I accept this most gracious opportunity".
His father grinned "wonderful my dear boy we start Monday I will show you everything you need to know".
Devins mother did not look happy and as soon as Devin finish led his dinner she sent him to his room. As soon as Devin was gone his mother began yelling "why the hell would you think that he is going to be good he is a boy". "He is my son and he is of age so don't tell me how to raise my son you knew what you were getting him into when you married me so drop the act we both knew it was going to happen". The next day Devin woke up and went to find his father to see if he could do anything unfortunately when he came into the room his father was gone just a note telling Devin "my son I have gone for the weekend I will be back Sunday night I was called to a meeting be good to your mother love your father".
Devins eyes began to fill with tears. About four hours later Devin was home with his mother when someone knocked on the front door. Devin ran to the door hoping it was his father but when he opened it a young girl about 14-15 years old introduced herself "hi my name is Alexis I just moved in down the street".
Devin looked amazed then snapped back to reality "the names Devin and it's a pleasure to meet you Alexis".
This was the start of one of the best friendship this world has ever seen Devin didn't quite know it yet but it was destiny that they met on that Saturday morning.
"So where did you come from Alexis". "I moved from Paris three years ago and moved around the United States the last few years with my parents and it looks like it's here from now on so do you maybe want to hang out Devin". Devin smiled as he said "mom I'm going out I'll be home before dark". "Okay sweetie have fun don't get into to much trouble" he mother called back.
The two new friends went off for a day of adventure first Devin took Alexis to the local ice cream parlour "do you want some ice cream Alexis". Devin asked with a smile on his face "sure" Alexis replied "I'll have rocky road ice cream that's my favourite flavour". Devin ordered the two rocky road ice creams and with that they walked to the docks.
"So what do your parents do Devin" my dad does lots of work at home I'm not sure exactly what he does yet but my mum works at the diner down the road from our house". Devin ate his ice cream and looked at the water before saying "what do your parents do".
Alexis seemed surprised at what she was asked but smiled and said "my mum is in the army and my dad is a police officer". Devin seemed surprised by what she had said and repeated "so I guess if I wanna be your boyfriend I have to be carful around your parents". Alexis blushed "b-b-boyfriend I've never had one so I wouldn't know about how my parents would act".
Devin looked confused "a girl as beautiful as you and you've had no boyfriend wow". Alexis looked confused "you think I'm beautiful". Devin said "yeah I do now let me get you home before I get killed by my own parents first". The tow friends want home together as the sun began to set behind them.
