Hanna pov
My dad and mum had been talking for half an hour now. They were downstairs, and every so often you could hear the throaty chuckle of my father's, and the giggle that was my mother's real laugh. Not the one she fakes to get male attention.
I cuddled into Em's side, and she responded by holding me tighter. She knew this was what I had wanted for a long time; my parents to be together, whether it was as a couple or not. Isabel and Kate were in another dimension. A horrific one. And my father had escaped.
Just then, Emily got a text. Her phone buzzed, and she looked at the screen. Instead of replying, she left her phone where it was. Then she focused back on the movie I had put on. I forgot about it until her phone buzzed again, signalling yet another text. Em didn't even bother to check the screen.
"Shouldn't you reply to that?" I asked, moving around in her arms to look at her. She gave me a small shrug, and then a smile.
"It's nobody important. Probably just my mum." I saw right through her. It was obviously somebody, as she had tilted her phone so I couldn't see the screen. I should trust Emily. I love her. If she says it's nobody important, then it's nobody important.
Or maybe it's nobody important to you. But maybe to her.....
I shook my head to clear those thoughts away. I trusted Emily. I really did. And I loved her. Unconditionally. Totally. Forever.
After a few minutes, I heard my mother calling my name from the bottom of the stairs. I untangled myself from Emily, and gave her a small kiss before going to see what my mother wanted. She was stood at the bottom of the stairs with my father, who had his blazer on ready to leave.
"Hanna, I want to take you out this weekend. Perhaps on Saturday we could go to that restuarant you like?" My father asked, maybe a little too polite and formal. My mother gave me a smile, encouraging me to agree. So I did.
"Sure, sounds fun." I said, and he gave me a quick hug before leaving. My mother closed the door, a smile on her face. I hadn't seen her smile in a long time, too long in fact. It was great to see her this happy, but sad to know that the cause wouldn't be able to stick around forever.
"Is he going home?" I wondered why he would keep travelling back and forth.
"No, he's staying at a hotel nearby. He's here on business for a few days." My mum said before entering the kitchen. She began to put away the bottles of wine and the glasses that they had used.
It's okay, Hanna. You knew he wasn't here entirely for you. He never is. Don't be disappointed, it will make it worse again.
I told myself over and over again, trying not to cry. My own father can't come and visit me, and instead pops in when he's doing business. I went back upstairs to Em. She always cheered me up, whether it was because of her cute laugh, or adorable smile, or when she tries to be funny.
"What's wrong, Han?" She asked, getting off the bed in concern. Of course I had to go and cry when I reached my room. I just walked straight into Emily's open arms, and she held me as I sobbed.
"It's okay, I'm here. I love you." Emily kept whispering, over and over again. Soon, I calmed down enough to talk. Emily sat on the edge of the bed, as did I.
"My dad can't even come here to visit me. He's here on business, and that's the only time he'll come here." I said, wiping the tear away that had just fallen. Emily looked as if she didn't know what to say. Then her phone rang. For a few moments, she stayed seated, not making any attempt to move and answer the phone. Until I told her that she should. She gave a sigh, gave me a quick kiss and picked up her phone. She left the room, and I heard her voice from in the hallway.
"No, I'm busy......I don't want to.....no.......just, please leave........No, it's fine.....I have to go......no, we haven't........goodbye" She returned a moment later, and threw her phone on to the bed. She sat beside me again, but this time she held my face in her hand, then she leaned in to kiss me. I wrapped my arms around her neck, and she deepened the kiss. Our tongues battled, and she won. I liked it when she was dominant.
Then I got a message that I didn't expect.
Daddy's girl has some things to explain, unless you want this picture to do it for you - A
There was a picture attachment, which I opened. It was a picture of me and Em in the middle of a kiss. I turned to Em, shocked, and showed her the picture. She paled, and then grabbed her phone.
She began pacing, and finally stopped, holding the phone to her ear.
"Guys? We need you to come to Hanna's now. A is back."
