Once again, the Sun melted into the sewers, and onto the flowing river of water, the Clinking Town lumalights waking up to do their morning routine. Copper was the first to wake, checking on everyone at their homes to see if they were in good condition. Cube had called in sick, Copper allowing her to rest at home, a safe distance from infecting anyone else. Aqua had left her home sweet home, trotting over to visit Copper and his duties. There he was at the tram, Aqua noticing the beads of sweat trickling down the shining face of Copper.
"Copper, are you alright?" Aqua asked, the bronze colored lumalight caught off guard by the sudden question. "Me? I'm fine, just a bit tired, nothing much" Copper answered, resuming his tinkering on the already busted machine, Aqua watching him bang his small hammer against the sides of the thing. Sparks of electricity began blowing out the lights from inside, Copper letting out a hefty sigh before entering the tram, and searching for the power box. "Aqua, could you go bring Bolt here? Be careful as well" Copper warned her, the small girl dashing off to find Bolt.
"Bolt! Where are you!?" Aqua shouted, waiting for a reply in the silent town. Just near a lightbulb, Bolt was there charging himself up for the day. "Hi! You called?" Bolt per usual quizzed energetically. Aqua nodded, and pointed over to the direction of the tram, Copper still working hard on preparing all major damage. "Ah I see, thanks for the heads up!" Bolt shouted, sprinting over to help Copper, eager to get work done. After that was finished, the water spirit had no clue what to do with herself. Maybe she could go visit someone?
Without giving it a second thought, she went ahead and visited Fire. Where could she get those gloves that protected them? "Thanks for the help, Rubber!" Grass shouted to his friend, catching the attention of Aqua who wanted someone to help out with this scenario. "You there! Aren't you the new lumalight in town?" Rubber questioned Aqua, her bobbing her head slowly. "Well you can't just walk around without any gloves! Come over, I still have some left" Rubber told the curious little spirit, checking under their counter to see where he placed his box of gloves.
"Let me see your hand size" Rubber gestured, Aqua resting her hands in the soft silky ones of Rubber. He took out his measuring tape, and came to his result. "You have small little hands, you're lucky there's one of those left" Rubber notified her, handing over the gloves to Aqua. Cautiously, she took them out of his hand, and looked at the pair of gloves cluelessly. "Oh, let me help you with that" Rubber replied, slipping on the gloves on to Aqua's hand. "There you go, a perfect fit!" Rubber cheered, Aqua adoring the white soft gloves.
"Thank you" Aqua shyly thanked, heading off to search for Fire. On the edge of town, just near the waterfalls that went down into the unknown, Fire was sitting on the edge, his feet dangling on the side. Aqua approached him carefully, not wanting to scare him into the waters. He heard the sound of shoes tapping, getting closer to his spot. "Who's there?" Fire asked, Aqua sitting down next to him, and waving. "Oh, it's you" Fire sighed, looking down at his reflection in the calm river, sparks of flames floating in the air.
"Why aren't you with the others?" Aqua interrogated, Fire taken back by hearing Aqua's voice for the first time. "Well...I'm staying cautious as to not burn someone right now" Fire informed the confused girl, Aqua's hands laid in her lap, and her legs also over the edge of the path. "Then wear these" Aqua rose her hands, showing Fire the gloves she wore to keep herself from accidentally dousing Fire. "That's not enough, there's also my head that's always lit" Fire stated, reminding Aqua he's entirely made of Fire. "What about your clothes?" Aqua asked.
"Not that, the clothes are the only part you can actually touch" Fire hinted, poking himself on the stomach. "I don't have an effect on myself, so I can touch anything that I wear. It's not like Skull's ability where whatever he touches, it disintegrates" Fire noted, Aqua keeping that in memory in case of needed future use. They had a long awkward moment of silence, Aqua looking at the calm river a little too close. "Hey, you shouldn't be so close in case it begins picking up" Fire told her, Aqua keeping far from the deep river.
"I had fun talking, I have to go now" Aqua stated, getting up from the edge of the walkway. "Where are you headed to?" Fire asked the little spirit. Aqua had to think of a good excuse she was leaving rather than she had nothing else to talk about, yet it seemed she had to let the cat out of the bag. "I ran out of things to say" Aqua ratted herself out, Fire understanding where she was coming from. "I do too, goodbye" Fire spoke low, Aqua walking off to find Copper, wondering if he was done with the tram.
After watching Aqua fade into the end of the tunnel, Fire took another good look at the water, sighing in defeat. There really was no hope for him. His friends were dying, one of his best pals, Windy had passed on, and even Cube and Oil were planning some sort of escape. It was a dead end for all of them, Fire realizing he had no real reason to still exist. With that being said, Fire inched closer to the corner of the path, and dropped in the water, his body dissipating into smoke. Not a trace of him was left behind, there was only sadness.
From the waters, ink began traveling up the sides of the walkway, forming letters, and words, then a message. Aqua came back to hand something to Fire, but didn't see him anywhere. 'Did he go home?' Aqua pondered in thought, stepping on a liquid that made a splotch sound. She picked up her foot, and saw black ink on the floor, two words that were leaked on the floor. "No choice" Aqua read, frantically searching around for Fire. There it was again, the feeling of loneliness and fear.
If only she stayed for a bit longer, maybe Fire wouldn't have done it. Aqua placed down the gift she was going to give to Fire, and peered around the dock that extended over the river, not a clue as to where Fire gone. This was very bad, and Aqua had to tell the others. If she didn't, no one would know if Fire was okay. The first person she decided to tell was Copper. From there, everyone else would find out the cruel truth...
