A Normal Day, Messed Up By A Call

"Beep, Beep, Beep!" My alarm blares, tearing me from my normal, everyday slumber. I tiredly slam my hand down on top of it, and after a few tries manage to shut it off. I groan.

Sitting up and rubbing my eyes, I look at the clock. It reads 5:30 am. I kick my blanket off, and stand up. My back cracks, from being stiff all night. "Ugh.. school.." I mutter, my voice weak and rusty from lack of use. I manage to stumble over to my dresser, opening a drawer.

I pull out a black Fall Out Boy shirt, and a black sweatshirt as well. I reach into the drawer under that one, pulling out a pair of black skinny jeans. I slip them on, and then put on some black socks and my black Nike sneakers. If you haven't guessed already, I like the color black. A lot.

I tiredly manage to stumble into my bathroom, where I brush my teeth and use the toilet. I had taken a shower the night before, so I was fine on that matter. I walk back out of the bathroom, out of my bedroom, and downstairs. I grab my backpack, before picking up a piece of toast and bidding my mother goodbye.

Here's the basics of my mother: She has blonde hair, blue eyes, a dazzling smile, and a personality that makes her the most likeable person on Earth. But, of couse there's a downfall. Being a really nice person often results in bad things happening to you. My mother's parents died when she was 5, leaving her alone with her aunt. Her aunt had been a very nasty person, and it isn't my place to go into it.

Anyways, I ran outside with my backpack slung over my shoulder, folding my piece of toast in half and stuffing it into my mouth hungrily. I chewed quickly, swallowing and wiping my mouth with my sleeve.

Just as I near my bus, my phone starts ringing. The song "Centuries" by Fall Out Boy starts blaring from my pocket. I pull it out, and see a random number. I click the "Accept Call" button, putting the phone to my ear and muttering

"Uh... hello?" I listen for a second, before hearing a deep, raspy voice answer

"Hello, Michael Starrickson." How did this guy know my name?!

"Who are you, and how do you know my name?" I ask, trying to keep my voice from shaking. A run a hand through my hair.

"That information is not important. What is important is the information you are about to learn." I hear the man say. I gulp nervously.

"A terrible beast has risen. The encyclodiens have started to walk among the Earth. And their prime target is you, Michael Starrickson." I raise an eyebrow, confused.

"Encyclodien? What is that? And why are these things after me?" I demand.

"We don't have enough time for questions. Get on your bus, and at your school, don't walk in. Head down the alley to the right when you get there. Understand?" The man instructs me. Could I trust him?

"Yes." I reply.

"But wh-" my question is cut off by a beep as the man hangs up. This was going to be a heck of a day.
