Chapter 10 True Discovery

Dusk's P.O.V.

"My goodness!" I shouted as me and Snow charged down the mountain side. 

"What'ya have to go and do that for?"
I heard a great puff of breath fly from her mouth shortly before my sensitive ears picked up a mumble of words that sounded like this,"Well, excuse me."
" For nothing." she added crossly.

As we arrived at home I heard an owl screech, it flew towards me and whispered in a kind, but urgent voice,"They are in the far distance."
I heard an angered shriek come from Snow,"Who or what is this?"
Momentarily, Mountain appeared in place of the owl. I shifted ran into the house and grabbed Snow a simple outfit, cloth pants, boots, and a warm sweater, for she had been unfortunate enough not to get clothing that would reappear when she changed into human form. Mountain and I turned as Snow shifted and changed quickly.

"Look," I said and showed her a symbol on Mountain's collar bone.
It looked like a great book, except from its pages streamed a river, but it did not resemble a river filled with water, it was a river filled with something like light.
Suddenly Mountain shouted,"Get in the cabin, now. Go!"
We charged inside just as a caravan of men in black clothing rounded the corner, swords ready. The man who seemed the leader of the group walked towards our front door and knocked on it loudly. 

I took a deep breath put on a cheerful expression and opened the door. He had a stern but polite look to him.
He cleared his throat and said,"We are after a strange group of people."
I immediately acted worried and said, while glancing from side to side 'nervously',"Are they dangerous sir?"
"Quite." Was all he said.
"Well, we will...." I started to say when the man interrupted.
"We?"
I replied nervously,"I uh, well my cousin and my, er, Grandfather are here to visit."
He replied, somewhat curios, "Oh?"  
I recovered gracefully,"Their names are Selena and Mike."
There was a silence for a few moments then he said,"Could I meet them?"
I tensed for a moment then said calmly,"Sure, why not?" 

I entered the cabin with the man trailing behind me. As Snow walked out of the kitchen and saw me and the man, she froze and was about to make a rude remark my eyes widened and I shook my head slightly.
I saw her relax enough to look normal and I said,"Why, Selena this man wanted to meet you, him and his group are after a strange group of people."
A confused look spread across her face, but thankfully she just rolled with it. I went into the kitchen and introduced "Mike" to the man. Seeming satisfied, the stranger left with his men.

As soon as the group was out of sight Snow took her chance, eagerly, to explode with rage.
"You knew that Mountain was a shifter?!"
I replied,"Well.."
I got interrupted by the infuriated Snow,"Then what is all the baloney about to many taxes and stuff, and and..." she trailed off.
"I have discovered that I have a power," Mountain said quietly.
"Yea right," muttered a still irritated Snow.
Mountain continued, ignoring the rude remark,"I can predict what is going to happen, only a few minutes into the future at most though." 

After an odd silence Mountain whispered,"Shush, Dusk."
"Snow is about to explode with rage and storm into her room," he paused then continued,
"A strange thing will happen to both of you soon."
Snow, as Mountain had predicted, exploded with rage and stormed to her room. Shortly after, Snow prowled out of the house and I soon heard a hammer banging on nails. I read til evening, then made a simple dinner. After eating Mountain and I went to bed. As I was drifting into sleep I heard Snow enter the house and eat the food I had left for her.

Next morning, I awoke to the smell of eggs and sausage. I stumbled sleepily into the kitchen and froze as I saw a strange scene before me. Snow was smileing and chattering with Mountain as they made breakfas together. I sat down, stunned, at the table. Mountain and Snow soon had three places set with a plate of food, a cup of water, silverware, and napkins.
During the meal, Snow said,"I finished the shed you wanted last night."
"Thanks," I said still somewhat surprised.

The cheerful Snow didn't last, soon she was solemn and silent, though not as angry seeming as usual. I went out to see the shed that Snow had built, shortly after breakfast. I entered it and got a strange feeling, vines with flowers shot up from the ground and grew into a wall that blocked off a corner of the shed. I walked toward it and some of the vines parted making a small entrance, I walked through it and the entrance closed behind me.
On the other side of the vines I expected to see the wooden corner of the shed, but I saw instead a bench-like stucture made of vines. It looked like a triangle, the point fit perfectly into the corner of the shed, the rest of the triangle grew against the walls of the shed til it was a foot or two away from the main wall of vines.
On the bench were a few of the largest flower petals I had ever seen. I touched them, they were like pillows, but strangest of all a very thick vine broke a huge hole in the ceiling. Through the hole came sunlight which lit the strange area, and as I was about to leave I saw the thick vine block up the hole. "My nook," I said to myself and the name stuck.

I exited the shed, about to run and tell Snow and Mountain, when I heard a shout of delight.
Then I heard Snow yell,"It is made of beautiful ice, it is amazing."
