Lucas followed me out to my car as I was putting my duffel bag in my backseat. I got into the driver's seat and pulled out my phone.
As I pressed my mom's contact Lucas climbed into the passengers seat and closed the door.
My mom answered, "Hi sweetie how was it?" she asked when she picked up.
"It went great. She's going to get back to me tomorrow but she said I shouldn't worry." I answered.
"That's great! Are you heading home?" She asked me.
"Actually, I'm going to head over to that party I mentioned earlier. I'm driving so I won't be drinking. You guys will probably be asleep when I get home." I told her.
"Okay! Drive safe and if you do drink just call us and one of us will come and get you. Love you." She answered.
"I will. See you tomorrow. Love you too." I answered before hanging up the phone.
I put it in my center console before starting the car. I glanced over and saw that Lucas was giving me a confused look, "What?" I asked.
"Did you really just tell your mom that you were going to a high school party?" he asked, dumbfounded.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"And she didn't care?" he asked.
I quirked an eyebrow, "Tessa didn't even care where you were going. You just said you were going out." I shot back.
"Yeah but they stopped caring what I did a while ago. I'm a problem child. But you're not." he said.
"Exactly," I replied, "I'm not a problem child. So I tell my parents the truth and they don't care." I answered.
He just smirked, "Little Mermaid is a goody-two-shoes." he said, teasing.
I just rolled my eyes. If only he knew.
"Well you're going to need to tell me where to go." I said, putting my car into drive and pulling out of the driveway.
Lucas directed me to Rebecca's house, which was also in another rich neighborhood. It wasn't as big as Lucas', not by a long-shot. But there were about 20 cars lined up in the driveway, on the lawn, and along the street.
I sighed to myself as I parked the car. I'd never thought I would've seen the day I went to Rebecca Wyatt's house for a party.
"Cold feet?" Lucas asked, making me look over at him.
"No. I'm just not really dressed for a party." I said as I took the key out of the ignition.
"Trust me, you don't want to be dressed like some of the girls that are here tonight." He said, opening his door and climbing out of the car.
I followed suit, locking the car once both doors were shut.
I followed Lucas up the driveway to the front door. There wasn't anyone out front, but we could both hear the music and commotion from inside. Before we went inside, I took my hair out of its ponytail and let it fall down my back so at least I wouldn't look completely like I'd just come from my living room couch.
Lucas gave me a smirk before opening the door and gesturing for me to walk inside. I did and he followed behind me, closing the door. The people in the foyer looked over and their eyes widened when they saw who had just entered.
I took in my surroundings, and the party looked fresh out of a teen movie. Everyone had red solo cups, there were people dancing all over each other in one room, people drunk, high, or both lounging in another, and everyone was talking.
