Christmas morning, I woke up when the weight of the bed shifted. Jordan had tried to get out quietly, but I was missing his presence beside me. I woke up watching him button up his shirt and put his suit coat on his arm. He started towards the curtain, but I stopped him.
“Good morning again,” I said tiredly.
He jumped a little and turned around. “I didn’t know you were up.”
“I am now,” I said.
“Merry Christmas,” he said.
“Merry Christmas.”
“I’m going to go to my room and I’ll see you downstairs, okay?”
“That sounds good,” I said.
I followed him out the bedroom, but while he let himself out, I want to the bathroom. I undid by hair from the extreme bed head ponytail, brushed it, and then pushed it into another pony tail.
Without getting lost this time, I went downstairs in my penguin pajamas and matching slippers. Janice, Wes, Mom, and Chloe were already downstairs waiting for the rest of the family so we could open presents.
“Good morning, hon. How did you sleep?” Chloe asked.
“Pretty well,” I said and sat down next to Janice. “The bed was like a feather light and soft. It was an enjoyable experience, you might say.” So was having Jordan’s arms around me while I slept, but this wouldn’t be a good time to bring that up.
“I’m glad. Adapting well to your room?”
“Yes, I’ve gotten everything put away. Thank you for all of the gifts. I hope you didn’t give me any more for today!”
“Your welcome, but I did get a few more things for each of you.”
Joshua came over and handed me a cup of hot cocoa with three marshmallows in it. I grabbed it without hesitation and thanked him. I took a sip and listened to the small talk between my mother and Aunt Chloe.
Growing bored with their conversation about different flowers, I turned to Wes to see what he was doing. Not unusually, he eyed the presents, probably ‘analyzing’ what was inside with his scientific mind, but I wouldn’t blame him being the youngest at twelve who still asked for toys for Christmas. That and science kits for himself to make new discoveries.
As I watched with him and wondered what was in each of the presents under the large tree, Janice startled me by whispering in my ear.
“I saw you leave with Jordan. Did you sleep with him?”
“It’s none of your concern,” I told her.
“Did he ask you out?” she pressed on.
My sister could not take no for an answer!
“If I answer your questions, will you leave me alone?” I asked.
She considered the offer. “Maybe. Depends on what the answers are.”
“Fine,” I said. “Yes, he asked me out and yes we slept together, but only because I was drunk and I insisted he stay.”
“Wow. You really screwed this up.”
“What do you mean?” I asked her.
“Wait until Mom and Dad hear. What’re you going to tell them?”
“I’ll tell them in a few days, but not that we slept together,” I told her.
“Fine, but if you ever have anymore problems with Jordan Jones, you can come to me. Just remember that these are celeb dating problems, not just ordinary people.”
