Next day at lunch, I am completely on edge. I couldn't focus on any of my classes, heck I can't even eat my turkey sandwich in front of me and I think Jinnie noticed.
"Dude, what is your problem?" Jinnie says in frustration.
I filled her in on my surprise visit from Dominic last night and his threat if I had decided to the cops. Jinnie starts to freak out, but for the wrong reasons.
"Oh my god! Dominic was at your house? The Dominic Carter? He is so hot Amelia! Yeah, a bit dangerous and your life might be on the line but come on look at him! Dominic is soooo-"
She trails off, her jaw slowly dropping. My brows furrow. I do not think I've ever seen Jinnie speechless.
"Jin? Jinnie?" I wave a hand in front of her face, but her gaze is stuck on something behind me.
"Go on sweetie. I'm sooooo what?" Dominic mimics Jin from behind me. I turn around and see Dominic with his three friends. Jinnie stutters to the point she gets flustered and puts her head down on the table. The guys start to take up the empty chairs at our table.
"What are you doing?" I whisper-yelled.
"Eating, Bambi, what does it look like?"
Why does he keep calling me that? And why do I like it? The guys start talking and joking around as if this was a normal day. The ruckus of the cafeteria starts to die down as whisper-tones rustle throughout the room. I don't think I have ever seen Dom nor his friends in the cafeteria. Heck, I have barely seen them around school until recently.
This sudden appearance has obviously caused some sort of attraction to the student body. One of them, who I assume is Korean with slick black hair, asked if Jinnie is alright since she still has her head down. I grab a fist full of her hair and lift her head, but she plays dead, so I let go, causing her head to slam on the cafeteria table.
"Ow! Bitch that hurt!" she shouts, rubbing her forehead. She goes back to eating her food to avoid any more embarrassment.
"Well..." The guy sitting on my right says. He has a nice light skinned complexion with brown curly hair, "I'm Elijah, but everyone calls me Eli. That is Oliver, or Olly."
He points to the guy across from me, sitting next to Jinnie. He is adorable with his freckles and curly brown hair which is thicker than Elijah's. "That's Noah. And you obviously know Dominic."
He points at the Korean guy then Dominic who I just now noticed is sitting oddly close on my left. After formal introductions, they go into complaining about Mr. Hohn's Chemistry test that was given out today.
I pick at my sandwich, having long lost my appetite. I tune out as Elijah and Noah are going back and forth on whether Lays are better than Doritos. It is hard to concentrate on anything with Dominic's knee touching mine.
I am supposed to be afraid of this guy since he threatened me, yet I cannot seem to stop thinking about him. Just the slightest touch on my knee has heat radiating all over my body and a zoo going crazy in my stomach.
Is he doing this on purpose?
The bell rings and the guys start getting up, Dominic's knee leaving mine. Letting a breath go, that I did not realize I was holding, I am relieved that it stopped, but I want it back so bad. We gathered our things and started heading our separate ways to class.
Oddly enough this simple routine kept happening all week. Sometimes the guys would walk us to and from class or meet us by our lockers in the morning or after school. Dominic and his gang never hang out in the cafeteria, let alone with anyone else besides themselves; that is why when the guys came to sit with us at lunch every day after, the rumor mill was working overtime.
What's you're favorite kind of sandwich? I like turkey :)
