"Is that true Noah?" Jinnie asked.
"What? Come on. You can't believe everything he says. He's obviously drunk." Noah lets out a nervous laugh while Jinnie narrows her eyes at him.
"You're a terrible liar."
"Dom what's going on?" I ask. "What did Olly mean that Noah killed someone?"
"Leave it alone Amelia." He says sternly. There he goes again, he said my name, not Bambi.
"No! What did he mean?" I shouted. My outburst shocks everyone. He gives me a stone look. "Please," I pleaded, "you can trust me."
Dominic looks at Elijah and Noah, Olly pops his head up from the floor. Dominic sighs, gets up, and walks out of the room. We all turn to Noah who faces defeat.
"You guys know we are part of a gang, right?"
"We heard rumors." I mumbled.
"Well it's true: we are part of The Liberated and basically contract killers-, but it's not what you think!" He rushes out, trying to justify what he just said. "We don't just kill anyone, only other gang members that cross the line with us or innocent people." Noah explains. Dominic re-enters the room with the plate of cookies I had forgotten about. He sets the plate in front of all of us, then takes a seat next to me again.
"What Oliver said was true, I did kill someone last week." Noah continued. "But that's only because I found the guy trying to rape some lady off the street. Think of us like exterminators, but for the bad guys."
"Doesn't that make you the bad guys too?" Jinnie questioned.
"Not if you're ridding the world of another rapist or drug dealer. Plus, the payments we get from completed contracts mostly go towards charities and other organizations."
one knows what to say after just learning that the new friends you made are killers.
"Anyone want to play twister?" I offered.
"I think it's getting late, maybe we should all go to bed," Dominic said. We all agreed and started setting up the sleeping area for the boys. Oliver is the first to knock out cuddling the plate of cookies. Jinnie offered to show Noah the bathroom so he can change as I head to the kitchen to clean up the mess.
"Are you scared of me?" I turn to find Dom leaning on the counter.
Am I scared of him?
He kills people.
But for good reasons, I guess. If he were killing random strangers like a psycho that would be different. Besides, he hasn't given me any other reason why I should fear him.
"Surprisingly, no. I'm just curious how you guys got involved in all of this."
"I think we've had enough story time for one night." He gives me a half smile before walking back into the living room.
Everyone heads to bed. I make my way to my room to change into my pajamas which is basically a silk pink baby doll dress with matching shorts.
I lay in bed thinking of all the possible reasons as to why the guys could have become involved in a gang, let alone could kill someone. With the image of Dominic holding a gun, I drift off into darkness.
