Illusions [Ateez x Reader]

Chapter 47

"Baby I promise the ambulance is almost here," Seonghwa utters quietly. "Please just hang on."

"Hwa, Y/N's pulse is slowing," Jongho whispers. "It's faint now."

"The ambulance is two minutes out," Wooyoung interrupts, hurriedly.

"See so close baby," Hongjoong mutters.

Y/N stirs a bit, but his/her/their eyes still refuse to open.

"Come on," Yeosang encourages. "Come on baby, you're so strong. Please just open your eyes."

"Guys the ambulance just pulled into the drive way," San yells from the front door.

A few moments later, two EMTs enter the house, rushing over to where San and Wooyoung pointed.

"What happened?" One of the EMTs ask.

"We don't know," Yunho rushes out. "We found him/her/them like this."

The EMTs begin to slowly move Y/N onto a gurney in order to get him/her/them to the hospital.

"What is his/her/their name? And do you have a relationship to him/her/them?"

"His/her/their name is Y/L/N Y/N, and we are his/her/their soulmates," Mingi answers quickly.

"Alright sirs, two of you can ride with us tot he hospital and the others will have to follow."

"Hongjoong and Seonghwa should go," Yeosang states, the others nodding.

Seonghwa and Hongjoong send them a quick reassuring smile and rush off to the ambulance with the EMTs and Y/N. The other members sprint to their car, quickly following them.

"Hwa," Hongjoong mutters, voice shaking. "Do you think Y/N will, will..."

"No," Seonghwa interrupts sternly. "It won't happen so don't even think about it."

Hongjoong and Seonghwa grasp hands tightly and watch as one of their soulmates' lives is put in the hands of the EMTs. The EMTs move around a little, hooking Y/N up to a few different things, causing the two Ateez members to wince at everything needed to keep Y/N alive. The ride to the hospital takes about ten minutes, and when the ambulance arrives there is already a crew of nurses to bring Y/N into the hospital.

         "We've got a patient, multiple jagged stab wounds and blows to the head. Internal injuries and bleeding suffered. Has been unconscious for at least an hour," one of the EMTs relays to the head nurse as they take the gurney and begin to push Y/N into the hospital.

       Hongjoong and Seonghwa rush to keep up with the nurses, who are rushing into the building and talking to each other. The nurses push Y/N into the emergency room, while two stay back in order to keep Seonghwa and Hongjoong our of the room.

       "I'm very sorry sirs," one of the nurses apologizes. "But you will have to wait for news about your soulmate in the waiting room."

       Seonghwa nods in understanding and takes Hongjoong's hand, pulling him into the waiting room and taking a seat. The two boys cuddle up to each other, until the others rush in. San notices them and drags the other boys over to take seats by them.

      "So how is Y/N?" Wooyoung asks immediately.

       "He/she/they got taken back for surgery," Seonghwa mumbles. "We weren't allowed back with Y/N. But the things the EMT said was wrong with him/her/them sounded really bad."

     "Well Y/N is a fighter," San mutters, trying to lift the others' spirits. "He/she/they will be okay."

The others agree, although all of their faces seem sunken and groggy. The boys sit back, all slightly pushed together for comfort as they wait for someone to come out and tell them about Y/N. Soon enough, hours have passed with no word on Y/N's condition. However, finally a doctor exits the emergency room.

"Y/N?" The doctor calls out, the the boys immediately shoot up from their seats and head over to the doctor.

"How is Y/N?" Yunho asks as soon as he gets over there with the others.

"He/she/they are still in critical conduit," the doctor begins. "But we got all of the internal stuff dealt with, so Y/N should be on his/her/their way to a recovery. We are putting Y/N in room 426 if you would like to go see him/her/them now."

The members of Ateez thank the doctor, then sprint to Y/N's room. When they enter, they are greeted with the sight of their beloved soulmate hooked up to so many wires, looking practically dead. Y/N's face was pale as hell and he/she/they laid there, unmoving.

"Oh god baby," Mingi breaths, putting his hand over his mouth.

The boys head over to the couches in the room, taking seats on them. None of them had the heart in them to walk over to Y/N worried that what they see could be how Y/N stays.

This act goes on for about five hours. The boys refused to leave the room except for food and bathroom, glancing at Y/N from time to time, but mostly just sitting quietly huddle with each other. Nurses would enter occasionally, to do whatever they needed to do for Y/N, then scurried out of the room again.

"Guys," a raspy voice calls out, causing the boys to loom towards the hospital bed.

And what they see is amazing.

Y/N's beautiful e/c eyes are open slightly and Y/N is looking over at them with the tiniest of smiles.

"You're up!" Jongho exclaims, rushing over to one side of the bed.

"How long have I been out?" Y/N questions, no strength in his/her/their voice.

"About twelve hours," Yeosang responds quietly.

"You had us worried sick," Mingi lets out.

Y/N begins to answer, when a coughing fit strikes. It takes a few moments for it to die down. "Sorry... sorry I worried-worried you."

"It's okay," Seonghwa responds. "But do you think you could tell us what happened?"

Y/N freezes, like he/she/they are trying to fit everything together in his/her/their mind. Finally, Y/N takes a gulp of air before speaking softly. "Mom and dad. They uh, attack-attacked me."

"Thank you baby," Hongjoong mutters. "Do you mind if we tell the cops? There are some waiting in the lobby for your story."

Y/N shakes his/her/their head. "I don't care anymore."

Hongjoong nods, standing up and leaving the room.

"Can I..." Y/N pauses. "Can I go back to sleep now?"

"Yeah baby," Wooyoung hums. "You can go back to sleep."

Y/N smiles weakly and shuts his/her/their eyes, falling back into a deep sleep.
