The boy didn't bother trying to hide his wide grin as he shamelessly watched the blue-haired beauty -- his blue-haired beauty. She was humming the jingle from that annoyingly convincing pet food commercial as she lay sprawled on her stomach on her bedroom floor, absently doodling on the corner of her worksheet.
As if sensing his gaze, the girl lifted her head, her sunset eyes meeting his sharp amber ones. "Hey, you're supposed to be studying that textbook, not me."
"You're one to talk, babe," The tall seventeen-year-old snickered, his gaze not leaving hers as he shoved the geometry book off his lap and pulled her close. "Besides, you're way more interesting than this shit."
"Real cute, Omi. Now get back to studying or else you'll never graduate." The girl's actions contradicted her words as she made herself comfortable in his arms.
He raised an eyebrow. "Oh? But it seems you're more interested in me than homework, too," He leaned closer, "My cute little Hibari-chan."
"Omi!" The dark-haired girl abruptly pulled away. "Nice try, but I have a test tomorrow."
"Aww, fine..." Omi reached for his geometry textbook once more and began studying, though he kept sneaking a glance or two at his beloved while she wasn't looking.
"Omi-san?" The familiar voice pulled the tall young man from his reverie.
He turned to see Muku standing beside him. Looking down, he noticed the carrots he'd been cutting up were now in smaller pieces than he'd intended. He swiftly set the knife aside and gave the middle schooler his full attention. "Hello Muku. What's up?"
"Uh, s-sorry to interrupt..." Muku began quietly, "I just wanted to ask... I was reading this manga and it had a picture of this really yummy-looking cherry and apple pie. Do--er, do you think you could recreate it?" The small boy's crystal blue eyes were wide and hopeful.
Omi pondered for a moment. "Apples and cherries, huh... Well, I don't recall ever having made a pie with those particular fillings before, but I don't see why not. Sure. Why don't we try making it together?" He smiled, "Could I borrow that manga for reference? In the meantime, I'll look up some recipes."
Muku beamed excitedly. "Sure!" And he hurried off to retrieve it.
As the pink-haired middle-schooler left, Omi sighed quietly. 'Making a new recipe should help me get my mind off of the past...'
