I'm shaken awake by a rough jolt and Mando muttering a small 'fuck' to himself, his modulator barely even picking up his quiet voice. I keep my eyes closed, hoping that I could just slip back into a deep comfortable sleep, but another harsh jolt and shake makes my eyes snap open.
Yeah, ignoring rough rattling from my ship never worked out for me anyway.
"Alright, I'm up. For fuck's sake, I'm up," I mutter under my breath, sliding my feet off of the dash while yawning and rubbing the sleep away from my eyes. I shake my head and stand up, but I'm instantly thrown to the side and knocked back into my cushioned seat. "What the hell's going on?" I ask, furrowing my brows a bit.
"We've got Riot Mar hot on our tail," Mando quickly answers, his voice slightly strained.
"Riot Mar?" I question, perking a brow at him.
For some reason, I feel like I've met this guy before, but I can't say that for certain. With my memory, I probably have met him, but if we're being honest, I never really cared to remember other bounty hunters' names. I only ever worked with Mando, so I didn't think to keep everyone's name in my head. Especially since most of them wanted to kill me since Mando and I had a tendency of doing their job better than them.
"What? Is he shooting at us too or something?" I joke, laughing a bit with a stupid, lazy smile. I narrow my eyes and look through the windshield, my eyes searching for anything that would give me a hint as to what was going on.
"Well... yes," he answers, leaning forward a bit while gripping the controls a little more. He glances up at me, his hands still tightly wrapped around the controls. "What should we do?"
"Well, we can start with you getting out of my seat," I say, jerking my head to the side a bit, telling him to move up and out of the way. He quickly pops up from my seat and I slide into my usual chair, my hands instantly taking over the controls. "Now, get this asshole on my comm system."
He starts tapping at a few things and then the crackle of another comm system connecting makes me grind my teeth. I open my mouth to say something, but the man on the other side of the line beats me to the first word.
"Hand over the child, Mando," the man demands as one of his many blasts hits one of the engines on my wonderful ship. I instantly snap my head down to look at one of the scanners to see that there was a large red sector flashing on the screen. I clench my jaw, looking at the now damaged engine through the use of the small scanner.
"Oh, I dare him to fucking hit me again-" I start, but his words cut me off, yet again.
"And I might let you live," he continues, a smirk evident in his already cocky tone. Another blast hits the same engine again, making me slap my hand against the dashboard in a flash before I could actually start focusing on the situation again. I adjust my grip on the controls and shake my head.
"Hate to break it to you, but this isn't the Mandalorian that you're speaking to," I bark back at him, my knuckles turning white as I gripped the controls a little tighter.
"Ah, Mae Dameron. I thought I recognized your ship. Long time no see," he says, the cockiness growing more and more as he spoke. I grind my teeth a little more, furrowing my brows as he spoke.
"I'm sorry, am I supposed to know who you are or something?" I ask, perking one of my brows in faux confusion. I might as well mess with him for a bit just to piss him off. In my defense, he pissed me off first.
"What? Of course, you should know who I am! We've met countless times. We've literally worked a bounty together!" he exclaims, the cockiness in his tone gone. I hold back a laugh, knowing that I would blow it if I actually let it out.
