When I arrive at the hotel with at least forty minutes to spare, I'm somewhat relieved to find Michael in the lobby, swigging coffee from what looks to be a personalised, reusable Saint and City coffee cup.

As I saunter towards him, bags hanging from my arms, I can't help but envy how smart he looks.

Then again, he always looks smart.

"Oh, hey Mia," he says, his lip bent at the edge. "How was your journey?"

I place my bags to the ground, leaning my flustered body against a humongous plant vase. I spot how Michael has gelled his hair to the side today.

I swallow, straightening the sides of the black pencil dress that I decided to wear. "It was fine," I say, smiling. "No delays thankfully."

I feel I'm finally getting used to this commuting lark. As long as I plan ahead, then I'm confident I can navigate anywhere in this huge city now.

"Good. Can I get you a drink? A tea? Coffee?"

I nod, deciding that I need a rush of caffeine this morning, as well as something to settle my nerves. "A coffee would be great. Thank you."

Michel pads to a nearby coffee machine, and I take the short opportunity to take a breath, familiarising myself with my surroundings.

The Crown Hotel is magnificent, and almost too huge for me to even contemplate how many rooms it must hold. Decorated with marble flooring, the lobby boasts elegant chandeliers, soothing water features and calming music.

When I study the employees who sport maroon blazers and neckerchiefs, even I start to feel underdressed.

"One coffee," Michael says, handing me a paper cup filled with what I can assume is instant coffee.

"Thank you," I say, grateful for the warmth as my body shivers with nerves.

Maybe it's just because he's my manager, and that I'm in a constant battle to please him, but I pray silently that someone else shows up soon. I know I'm early, but I can only think of a mere few topics to discuss with Michael before the awkward silence would set in.

But, as if sensing my worry, Danny flies through the revolving doors, and I smile with relief.

"Hey guys!" He chirps, confidently wearing that sky-blue shirt of his.

"Danny," Michael says, shaking his hand when he reaches us. "Good to see you."

I smile when Danny turns to me, welcomed into one of his hugs. "Good to see you Mia. How are you feeling about today?"

I shrug, taking a sip of my coffee, praying that nobody can spot my shaking hand. "I'm nervous, naturally, but otherwise, all good."

Danny laughs. "You'll be fine."
