LUPIN HOUSEHOLD

☆☆☆

Camellia stepped into the small house with Hope by her side. It felt so much more like a home than she could have ever thought possible. There were fall decorations all over the place, showing their seasonal spirit that Jezebel and Camellia never had. She looked around the house in awe.

"I know it's not very fancy." Hope told the girl. They didn't have a ton of money, as they always had to move because of Remus' condition.

"It's lovely." Said Camellia. She's never felt more at peace in a home before.

"Remus, why don't you show her around the house, and me and your father will set up her room." He agreed, and eagerly grabbed his cousin's hand and brought her up the stairs to his room.

It was small, but had everything a young boy could ever want. "This is my room. This is my bed, and this is my dresser. That's the window I use to look outside." He explained everything meticulously.

"Why are you talking to me like I'm five?"

"Just making sure you know absolutely everything you need to know." He was actually stalling because he knew his father was using magic to set up Camellia's room. He led her around the house, trying to be as slow as possible, explaining in detail what things were, and pointing at every picture to point out everyone in it.

Lyall popped his head into the doorframe while he was showing her around the kitchen, telling her what was in each cupboard. "Your room is ready." He said with a smile. It was still shocking to believe she was finally with a family that cared for her.

"How did you get all of my things here? We drove here together." She said in awe as all of her personal items from her flat were here.

Hope gave her a sly smile, and said "Magic, darling." Camellia gave her a confused glance, but didn't want to appear ungrateful, so she didn't say anything more. Since their home only had two bedrooms, her bed was stuck in the basement, but she didn't care. A house was just a house, but she had family now, and that's all that mattered to her.

"I just don't thinks it's the right time."

"Well when will it be the right time, Hope? I know you're worried about her but she's been with us for a week, and she has a right to know."

"You don't think I know that, Lyall? I just don't want to bombard her with it while everything is so fresh. It was hard enough for me to grasp."

"Maybe it will help her to believe in it. Remus is going to transition soon, and we can't keep this from her." Transition? What does he mean transition? Camellia didn't move from her place at the bottom of the steps. She planned on coming up to get a snack, but stopped when she heard Aunt Hope and Uncle Lyall talking. Talking about her.

The last thing she wanted was to feel like a burden.

"Can we at least wait until Remus is a little more comfortable with it? After all, it is his secret."

She couldn't see what was happening, but she guessed that he had nodded, since Hope had said thank you as they retreated back to their room. She went up to the kitchen like she had initially planned.

"Did you hear them?" Remus came through the door, also wanting something to munch on.

She nodded. "Yeah, but don't worry. I won't ask." She said, referencing the fact that the couple had said it was Remus' secret. It was going to take the kids a while to start feeling like cousins, as Camellia was still reserved, and Remus was just awkward all the time. "Cracker?" She asked, offering him a small cracker from the package in her hands.
