A Sad Day

It was only yesterday when I found out the news.

Dad was never coming home again.

I was coming home from the high school when I received a call.

The screen showed up as mom.

"Ello?"

"Sweetie, I have bad news." Is what she had said.

"What." I say paying attention to the road as much as possible.

"Daddy is not coming home...ever."

"Why?" I said dreading the answer, did he leave us for someone else.

Worse. He was taken from us. By someone else.

"....a um...." She started to sniffle "drunk driver...hit dad's car, pushing him into a tree, crushing him inside."

Her voice cracked. "He died."

He died. So simply and harshly. Taken away from me. From mom.

"No you're joking." I said quietly.

"No. I'm not."

"Holy crap mom!" I said pulling over at that moment.

"It's okay, everything's going to be okay."

"No, never again." I said quietly.

"I know, but we have to move on, things like this happens. To everyone."

"So everyone's parents are just taken from them no matter what. Ya I know. But just being stolen like that is completely bull. That person who did that should go to that Hell-hole called jail. Or be sued. No better. Both!" I said crying.

Since then I haven't left my room, mom came and gave me food. As I sat in my bedroom, going to the bathroom to shower.

The funeral was coming up and so was my mom's birthday. She was still going to celebrate as much as possible to stay as happy as possible.

It doesn't work that way. Ever.
