too proud but sorrowful.

The caves were big, dark, wet and cold...it was a perfect Hardmeat paradise.
Ra'kar took the lead through the entrance and tracked each little pebble unturned.
He noticed the earth was disturbed recently and the ground was warm.
The tracks of the remaining Hardmeats were spread out and he noticed more fluids in the middle of the cave.

The remaining two are trying to create a hive and one could become a queen if they don't kill them in time.
Ra'kar used his Bio mask to scan the area and used his night vision to scout the ceiling.
Behind Ra'kar, Light-stepper scouted around for more tracks on the rocks but after the little spat they had earlier he couldn't concentrate.
Light-stepper watched his son scanning the area carefully and decided to confront the problem.

"Ra'kar? We should-"

"Yeah, yeah I know! We should scan the rocks since there should be signs of tracks on them!"

"Ra'kar, that's not what I was about say, I was-"

Ra'kar turned rapidly to Light-stepper and snarled at him.
His mandibles clicked out of frustration and growled aggressively to his disowned parent.
"Oh, let me guess? Your gonna tell me how much of a disgrace I am to your so-called royal bloodline? Too bad Light-stepper, you been down this path too many times in my life and I'm not changing my mind on switching clans!"

Ra'kar turned away and went back to tracking while still clicking in rage.
"Come on, the sooner we catch the prey the sooner I'll leave your worthy presence."
Light-stepper just wanted to turn back time and rewrite what he done.
He now realized he pushed his son too far and now he lost his relationship with him.

He never wanted this, he never wanted to loose his son in a way that he could see Ra'kar but wasn't welcomed in his life.
Light-stepper let out sorrowful, low clicks and began to walk towards his son.
He needed to make this right before they might finish their last hunt together.
"Ra'kar? Just hear me out, I never wan-"
Ra'kar turned to look at his father but then he noticed movement in the shadows.

In the night sky the full moon's light shuns upon Light-stepper and his armour gleamed off of his body that shown much authority and power to the young Yautja's sight.
But the light also shown a different presence...a shadow with fangs baring at the clan leader.

Ra'kar didn't think, he just leapt at the hardmeat out of pure instinct and tackled it down into one of the holes.
Ra'kar's mind went blank with rage as he dug his wrist blades into the hardmeat's chest as it let out a screech of pain.
The screech was ear piercing but Ra'kar didn't dare hold back.

Both prey and hunter slide down the hole and both landed on the ground with a heavy thud.
The hardmeat hissed in agony and tried to get up for the fight but Ra'kar didn't give it a chance.
He plunged his wrist blades into it's head instantly killing it.
Not happy that he ruined the skull but there's always others he could claim.

Suddenly he felt a firey pain in his left leg and a burning crack.
He looked down to see the spear tip of the hardmeat's tail and pulled away within instant.
Ra'kar roared in agony but it turned to anger as he swung his wristblade behind him.
The swift act sliced open the stalking prey's chest like wet paper but it came with a price.

The buring acid blood spewed over Ra'kar chest and started to shimmer away.
He needed to act fast but what could he do unless...water!
Luckily he heard running water behind him and he didn't waste any time.
He quickly dived into the water stop the burning but there was a mistake he didn't intend to make.

It was a raging underground river and the current was too strong for him to pull himself up and the injured leg dragged him down further.
The cold felt like daggers scrapping his thick skin and it already started to affect his injuries.
His muscles started to freeze up and his joints started to lock, he needed to move but he couldn't.

He was loosing too much blood and he was fading into darkness.
He closed his eyes and began to pray for Paya, he wasn't praying for mercy or for strength.
He was thanking his god for giving him the challenges, the adventures, giving him a mate whome he would forever be faithful too and soon to be with her and their unborn pup.

He was ready to die with honour...

"RA'KAR!!"

Light-stepper's roar echoed through the caves but all he got in response was silence.
He skidded down the hole to find the remaining hardmeats bodies but then saw the blood of his kin spewed all over the rocky floor.
His heart skipped a beat as he followed the blood trail to the underground river.
He looked over to each side of the cave for any sign of the elite guard but all he saw was rushing water.

"RA'KAR! ANSWER ME!!"

While scanning the water edges and sharp rocks that pointed out from the water, he looked for any sign of his fallen kin.
He kept scanning, scenting and calling out for his son but the proof revealed as he saw Ra'kar Bio mask stuck within the deepest part of the river.
His gut screamed to dive into the water to seek out Ra'kar but his knowledge stopped him in his tracks.
He knew that if he dived in he would of been taken by the current and sunk down to the bottom just like a rock.

He knew the results of the terrible catastrophe but he didn't want to admit it.

He's son was gone...

Light-stepper haven't felt so much grieve in all his life, this was his last heir and he promised his mate that her son would thrive but he failed. He pushed his son too far and now he would never get the chance to tell him he was sorry.
"Forgive me my son..."
He kneeled down to the ground and lowered his head in grieve.
"I should of never said those words to you, all I ever wanted was for you live on longer than your siblings. I wanted you to have a high rank, a wonderful mate and pups to raise but now because of me...you'll never get that chance."

Light-stepper clenched the ground tightly to hold in his sorrow but failed.
He let out a roar for the loss of his son, the light of his life and his closest friend.
"I am proud of you Ra'kar...I always had and forever will be proud of you."

"Father..."

Light-stepper stood up as fast as lighting and saw a miracle infront of him.
There stood his giant son that was covered in his own, glowing blood.
His left leg was badly mangled, his chest was heavily burnt and his face deeply scratched from the sharp rocks but he still stood strong as he limped towards his clan leader.
"Son..."
Light-stepper didn't think, he hurried over to Ra'kar as soon as he collapsed into his arms.
"Son! My son! Praise Paya that you have not perished. I wouldn't dare leave this planet without your body to give you a true buriel."

Ra'kar sighed in relief as he was held by his arms and the sound of his father's heart soothed him like it once did since he was a young pup.
The thought of dying of in the deep dark waters haunted the young warrior and knowing he was leaving for the spirit realm after disowning his father was too guilt ridden.
"Father? Forgive me for speaking so cruelly. I shouldn't-"

"You had every right to speak those words to me, Ra'kar. I only feared of loosing you like your older brothers and sisters. I just wanted you as my generation to live on but I only pushed you away. I treated you like a burden.
Can you ever forgive me my son?"

Ra'kar held onto his father and wouldn't dare let go. In public of yautja society the scene of such affection would of been mocked and teased as weakness to male warriors.
But both males didn't care if the grand elder mocked them to the very ancient ruins. They needed their bond to be mended and holding on to each other was the perfect strategy.

Light-stepper looked down to see Ra'kar slowly started to drift away into a much needed rest.
He purred calmly at him and lowered him down on his back.
"Rest now my son and I'll tend to your wounds and soon we will be heading home."
"Thank you...father"
Was all the young hunter could say as he closed his eyes to sleep away the exhaustion and pain of his best battle yet.
