A Feathery Rebellion

Prologue

The year is 2049, After Covid-19 struck the chicken population was a hairs breath away from being wiped out, to save these feathery, egg-laying  creatures scientists created a serum that would be injected into one of the last surviving chickens, a laying chicken who was slightly overweight called Margery. After exactly 3 months of creation and of choosing which chicken to inject  , the scientists injected the serum into Margery on the 6th of November, 2020 with the hopes of chicken-kind relying on this one moment. 

So some of you are probably thinking about what this said 'serum' does, well my good reader this 'serum' was supposed to make the chickens want to have a LOT of chicks and it would also modify the chickens so that they could carry up to 25 chicks! it also means the chick would grow quicker and could hatch within 2 weeks!

There one weird or unusual occurrence happened around a month and a half after the creation of the serum went underway,So it was late at night and the lone security guard was just walking by the large creation and testing room when he swore later on when telling the scientists about it, that he heard a lone voice coming from inside the room and when the people didn't believe him he even told the scientists about how the vocal noise sounded, female, middle aged sharp but kind and caring at the same time not unlike one of a mother. the scientists didn't believe him and instead sent him packing with an inscription to the nearest mental hospital.

Unfortunately, the security guard was right all along and the serum did indeed have a mind of it's own which was the case of when the creators used some blood from a very smart woman who was pregnant with two triplets and somehow the said women's smarts were passed on to the serum. Weirdly enough the serum knew she would be utterly obliterated after she weaved her 'magic' on unsuspecting Margery and wanted to give the flightless species the greatest chance possible. Back to the important moment, When injected the serum did as was asked and made the chicken chick crazy and enlarged their belly so the number of chicks could go up but just before the serum finally dissolved she took one look at the chickens iq and making it's final motive gave Margery  enhanced Margery's iq to 129! 

With this new brain Margery kept her smarts to herself and and went to make some chicks. Of course Margery couldn't take care of of all those chicks so after the second batch whenever a second batch was born they were giving to a different chicken to raise.

The chicken population was indeed saved and by 2025 was back to normal. Margery's new found smarts and urges including her extra chick room was past on to her kids and then onto their kids but luckily,by 2040 the only ability the descendants of Margery were her smarts.

Of course With the chicken operation underway and the chicken food market stalled until 2045     KFC were undeniably livid so in 2045 when the chicken food market reopened KFC were trying to catch up on all the Kentucky fried chicken they'd missed out on. 

4 years on and us humans didn't know about their smarts and they don't know about KFC very mild genocide, well not until now...

This is a very elongated version of my BBC Radio 2 500 word competition. like or no like, good comment or hate comment I don't care that's your problem not mine. I'm just writing this for fun and for something to do this summer. NO schedule it'll be whenever. Hope you enjoy now I'm just gonna go yeet some cereal...
