CarterMom came in after about ten minutes, and let me just say. Those ten minutes with Calum were the most uncomfortable moments of my life.
Nobody talked, only some awkward eye contact. Now here we are, sitting at the dinner table. Again, it's silent.
"So, Calum," my mom says in a odd tone.
"Yes?" He responds and I can tell he isn't use to being spoken to by his girlfriends parents.
"How are you and my daughter doing? You're all she seems to be talking about lately, you know?"
Calum chuckles and halfway rolls his eyes, I assume he caught himself doing the action.
"Ah, we aren't doing well, actually," he chuckles and Rosaline's eyes widen.
"What?! Calum, baby, we are doing just fine! Sorry mom, he kids like that frequently," My sister nervously laughs and wipes her mouth with her napkin.
"Oh," Mom laughs, "Your father use to always joke about things. Calum, I've heard a lot about you."
"Ah.. Bad things I'm guessing?" He asks and my mom nods.
"The media just like to portray hi-"
"Rosaline, let him answer for himself," I butt in. It's a pet peeve of my mine when people do that.
Calum chucked, Rosaline not finding it funny one bit.
"Thanks, Carter. Anyways, as Rosaline said. The media do like to make me seem worse than I actually am. I'm not a pig, like they portray me," he says while smirking.
"I always have wondered, what is it like?" She asks while putting her head in her hands.
"Wondered what?"
"What it is like to be followed around all the time. Constantly watched and having people lying about you."
"Actually, at first it's fun. Well, sometimes it still is. But I'd just like some privacy, I'm just like everyone else, I need and deserve privacy, you know?"
We all nod. I do understand that.
"I don't see how being followed around is considered fun."
"Well obviously you wouldn't," Calum says to mom and my eyes widen. Did he really just say that?
"I mean, you wouldn't know because you haven't been followed. That came out wrong," he chuckled and takes a drink from his glass.
"Yeah it did," Mom laughs it off. My dad seems irritated though.
This dinner is exactly how I expected it to be. Mom likes the thought of having her daughter in the media. Dad hates the fact that Calum is a total douche.
I, however, just hate how he is in the same proximity as me. His irritating smirk and little to no table manners.
His posture is good though, I'll give him that. All the way through dinner I sit and listen to everything being said.
All I can think as Calum talks is
A) lies lies lies
B) wow his voice is deep.
C) does he ever do anything but smirk? Finally, dinner ends and Rosaline decided to be nice for once and helpy parents clean up. Leaving me and Calum in the living room.
Obviously, it's silence for a good 5 minutes. Just like before, awkward glances are thrown each others way.
"You don't have to be so awkward around me, you know," Calum chuckles.
"I don't like you. This isn't me being awkward, it's me avoiding talking to you," I huff and roll my eyes.
"What have I done to make you not enjoy my lovely company?"
"The fact that you just said that."
"You single?" He randomly asks and I almost choke on my spit.
"Uh, obviously," I laugh.
"Someone as beautiful as you shouldn't be single. What? You a player?" He winks and I look at him in disgust.
"Do not call me beautiful when you're dating my sister," I shout and whisper at the same time, getting up and going into my room.
