Lily P.O.V
I walk through the freezing rain, keeping my tattered, ripped jacket wrapped tightly around me.
My boots make the same click click click on the ground as always, but it just doesn't feel the same.
After getting around the docks of
Manhattan, I end up on the busy streets, dodging the occasional person holding a soggy newspaper over their head.
I pass a building that seems to sink below the others. The windows all glow with light, and a sign reads:
NEWSBOYS LODGING HOUSE
I shrug and continue walking. A hand reaches out of the alley, pulling me in, but gently.
I scream, but it's muffled by the pale hand covering my mouth.
"Aye, what're you doing? You're gonna get taken to the refuge!"
I focus on the face in front of me, seeing intelligent brown eyes, and dark hair tucked under a cap.
The hand slips off of my mouth, grabbing my hand. "Come inside. It's warm in dere'." I nod, following the stranger. "I'm Davey, by the way."
Davey? Can it be?
"I- I'm Lily." I stutter. He stops, looking at me. "Lily?" I smile, hugging him tightly. "What're you doin' in Manhattan?" I pull away, looking at him. "My house burnt down, and my family died. So I came here seeking help."
He nods, looking down. "I'm sorry about your family." I pat his back. "It's okay." He looks back up, leading me into the building.
"Jack? I'd like you to meet someone, an old friend of mine. This is Lily James. She's from Long Island."
A strong body in front of us turns around, smiling wide.
He sports a gray vest, light blue button down with the sleeves rolled up, light gray pants, and black shoes. His dark hair is straight, but full, poking out at every point possible. It's all tucked under a gray cap similar to Davey's.
But when I look up at him, I'm greeted by the most vivid, beautiful, lively hazel eyes I've ever seen.
"Aye, I'm Jack. Jack Kelly."
((Ohohohohoh!!! #jacklily :3 I hope I'm right by trusting my brain and Corey's eyes ARE hazel, because they were last time I checked.))
