chapter 12; suddenly (december 18 24)

WARNING: okay well it's not really a warning i just wanted to apologise in advance for this. sorry :'( please don't hate me. or do.

fell in love once and almost completely

"calum calum calum calum! come out of your house right now please!" calum hears through his window.

he rushes outside because who's to say that some thing bad did or didn't happen to luke? he sounds urgent.

when calum gets outside, however, he is shocked to see luke with an arm around another real live human being. ashton.

"calum, this is ashton. ashton, calum," luke says, smiling widely. "you can hug. i allow it."

calum grins and says, "hey, man, luke has told me so much about you," and he does hug ashton.

"i've also heard a lot about you," ashton tells him. "i hear you're doing a nice job taking care of him."

calum is glad at first but then he thinks up that if ashton cared about luke's well being, he could live with him. calum wants to keep luke all to himself. he doesn't show his newly found bitterness to any one.

"oh, hey, luke, i forgot to tell you yesterday. after christmas, my folks want me to go visit cali, and i asked if i could bring you- they're elated, to say the least. they wanna know all about the luke-hype," calum says excitedly. "if you want to come, you're totally able to.

"really?" luke asks, eyes lit up.

"absolutely."

"huh," he smiles. "i'm down."

calum remembers ashton's presence. "we should all do some thing, the three of us. i want to get to know ashton a bit better."

"i love that idea," luke says, and even though calum isn't one hundred percent sure about ashton's good guy persona, he hasn't seen luke this happy ever, so he'll give him that, but only that.

they all decide to go out to eat, and luke asks to drive and he takes them to the pizza place that he and calum went on their first ever "date" at.

"this is where we made memories," he tells ashton. "we made out at this very table."

"no, we did not, luke. we made out at the diner, with the milkshakes, remember?"

"oh, shit. you're right. we'll go there next," luke says.

"why are you so incessant on showing me all the places where you made milestones in your relationship?" ashton asks and does his stupid little ashton giggle.

"because it's very important! we are head over heels in love, ashy, the wedding's in january!" luke jokes. calum despises the way he says ashy. he tries once again not to expose his irritation.

"when we go to the diner, we can definitely demonstrate how it went down, if you want," calum says teasingly, but he's sort of serious.

they eat their pizza and ashton exclaims how "fucking good" it is, and luke allows that (unlike how he prohibited calum from swearing in public! can you believe it!) and then they go to the diner to get their milkshakes and calum at this point is on fire with frustration. every time that some body mentions chewing gum, they both burst out laughing and calum doesn't understand what the fuck could possibly be that funny about chewing gum.
