Y/N's POV
I'm pretty nervous, I have to admit. Two weeks ago, I moved from the UK to the USA, and I have to say it's pretty different on this side of the world -- from the accent to the way on how people communicate with each other. Everything's so informal... back at home, we were very respectful -- perhaps too much. I'm not saying Americans are disrespectful, don't get me wrong... it's just that it's a different kind of respect -- I don't know if I explained myself clear enough.Today's my first day of my new school, and I'm a nervous wreck because I have to start all over again -- making new friends, trying to fit in... all that things. I don't know if my new classmates would like me or make fun of my accent. I don't know. I don't know anything. Hopefully it'll all go just fine.
"Hello. I'm your teacher, Mr. Ross", he shakes my hand. "You must be Y/N"
"Yes, I am. Nice to meet you", I reply.
"Take a seat", he says. I sit next to a boy.
"Hi, I'm Tito Joe, but everybody calls me TJ", he starts.
"Hello, I'm Y/N. Nice to meet you, TJ", I smile and shake his hand. There were two other boys very similar to TJ -- I bet they're his brothers. The bell rings and class starts. Our first class is Biology. I hate Biology. It seems everybody in this class hates it.*Two hours later*
"How was your first day here like?", I hear someone say.
"Better than I expected", I respond.
"Why?", he seems concerned.
"I thought I would be made fun of because of my accent", I shrug. "I don't think we've presented ourselves", I raise an eyebrow.
"Oops, sorry hehe. My bad. I'm Taj, TJ's brother", he smiles.
"Nice to meet you, Taj. I'm Y/N", I shake his hand.
"Hey wassup? Making new friends, eh?", another voice from behind me says.
"Oh, shut up, Taryll", Taj playfully rolls his eyes. "Don't mind him, he's always like that", he slightly punches Taryll's arm.
"And you must be TJ's and Taj's brother, am I right?", I deduce.
"Yup, I am", he smiles. The bell rings again, indicating the start of another class.Jeez, how many classes do they have per day? I think to myself. Everybody complains when Mr. Ross announces what our next class is going to be about -- Science! As far as I can see, everybody in my class hates Science. I do, too.
*An hour later*
The bell rings for the third time and I'm just hoping this will be our last class. Mr. Ross announces the topic of the class -- Civics. Everyone sighs in relief, so I guess they all like Civics. That's funny, because I do as well! I start wondering if I was sent to this class for a reason when someone pokes my shoulder. I turn around and see TJ.
"Yes?", I ask.
"Can I borrow your rubber for a sec? I forgot mine", he rubs the back of his neck as a sort of apology.
"Yeah, sure!", I look inside my pencil case and hand the rubber to him. "Here you go"
"Thank you", he smiles shyly. Did I just see a little bit of blushing? I shrug that thought off, thinking it could be the light.
