My stomach full, I watch with a smile as the boat begins it's route back to the dock.
I've been grateful for this opportunity for Grayson and I both to just talk. We've never properly spoken about our history, and I'm thankful that we've both now learnt a lot about each other's pasts.
I learnt that Grayson grew up in London—in a large house in Mayfair. He was never really that close to his mum or dad, but was with his older sister Chloe. Until she moved away. I think they still speak, but just not as much.
Grayson moved out when he was eighteen—which is when his dad bought him his own apartment—as a birthday present. What else?
I learn of his father's wealth, and how, despite their somewhat distant relationship, his dad still provides for him when needed. I found out that he's not only a barman at Plasma, he also manages the club—which only makes me feel even more embarrassed at my antics the first night I set foot in there.
Grayson doesn't speak of many friends. He just tells me the guys he hangs around with are more of acquaintances.
I think back to the time I saw him hanging around a group of guys in the underground station, wondering what he was doing with them, and who they were. He's still somewhat of a mystery to me, but I hope in time I can work him out.
I in turn tell Grayson how completely average my childhood was. Primary school, secondary school, then here.
I tell him how I've never really been anywhere, and, after I turned fifteen, how I would spend most of my free time working in a local coffee shop.
I tell him how my Dad has worked tirelessly day in day out as an IT Manager since my Mum died, how he would do anything to put food on our table, and how he pushed me to get this apprenticeship. I tell him how Lucas is now working as a builder with some guy he knows, and how back home we have a small three bedroom townhouse that overlooks the sea.
Our pasts are so different, but in some ways I think that's what has drawn us to each other so intensely.
We compliment each other.
"This was amazing," I say, dabbing my napkin at the corner of my lips.
Grayson smiles, sipping his wine as Jeffrey takes our plates.
I'm still bewildered by the views from outside the window. Every time I catch a glimpse of my stunning dress in the reflection, my body dances with joy; I really do feel a million dollars.
"How did you get this whole boat to yourself?" I ask, the question having been itching at me all night.
"I paid for it for the night," Grayson tells me, loosening his tie from around his toned neck.
Of course he did.
Gulping, I take in the modern yet classy interior of the boat once more—I can only begin to imagine how much this must have cost.
