Chapter 18

Because everyone but me were focused on what Adam was saying and not what he was doing missed the opportunity to stop the bullet from getting in contact with Daniel, like I said everyone but me.

"NORA!" I heard Daniel shout just as the bullet hit me under my rib cage piercing my flesh and causing fire to burn inside me. I couldn't speak I couldn't move, I just stood wide eyed letting the pain invade every inch of my body. I heard someone behind move closer but before they could take me into their arms I heard another loud sound, which sounded like another gun shot. Daniel I thought as panic took over me. The thought of him Taking a bullet was more painful than the physical pain I was feeling at that moment. But I didn't have to worry for long because I soon realised the second bullet was meant for me. I screamed in pain as the pain of the two bullet combined together to something unbearable.

It felt like my inside where on fire. I felt numbness take over as I fell to the ground. "Nora!" I heard two other people shout, but I only felt one person near me. "Nora, p-please, please stay with me!" He sounded pained, and was pleading me to do something that was beyond impossisble, what with my eye lids so heavey every second that went past it got hader to keep them open. I heard footsteps come closer to me until they stopped and Damen was hovering over me with a pained expression on his face.

"Nora," he said as he lowered himself next to Daniel

"You a-are a-a t-t-raitor," I managed to say with difficulty due to the pain I was in.

"No I'm not, I swear to you, this was all of mine and Daniel's plan. We worked together to keep you out of this," I felt Daniel push Damen,

"Damen! Call an ambulance or something!," was the last thing I heard before everything went black and I could no longer hear or feel anything.

Daniel's POV.

"Damen! Call an ambulance or something!" I shouted while looking at Sam who looked paralysed to the spot. I felt sick, sick from the thought of what this would do to him, and what it would do to me. I felt stillness in my arms,

"Nora, wake up!" God, she wasn't moving. I shook her slowly at first but then violently when she didn't move.

"That's what she gets for messing with me. You all thought I'd gone soft because I didn't do anything when Sam left dealing for me," Adam stated angrily while turning to look at Sam.

"Well this will sure teach you a lesson, Sam," that seemed to get a reaction out of Sam because I watched as anger boiled up inside of him turning his face almost tomato red. He got up quickly with a look that was filled with nothing but burning hatred.

"Damen! For God's sake phone an abu-" I didn't get to finish my sentence because I heard simething. Sirens. And they were getting closer. Everyone else must of heard it because noone moved.

"Shit!" Adam swore. His eyes searched all around the room before running to the far end to where a fire exite door was. I watched as Sam and Damen ran after him while the bald guy ran after them. I staied where I was, holding Nora's unmoving body. "I love you," I whispered as tears came down my face. I wanted her to hear me even though I knew she couldn't hear anything. I held on to her bloody body tightly until I heard a unfamiliar male voice,

"I'm affraid I'll have to ask you to move." I slowly released Nora and lay her on her back as the paramedics moved in with a stretcher followed by them two police men who came to stand next to me.

"We'd like to question you once we get to the hospital," One of them stated in strick police mode. I just nodded as I watched in agony Nora's limb body being moved.

There was no sign of the other two which worried me a tiny bit because Adam had a gun but I couldn't stay here to make sure they were okay.

The ambulance ride went by in a haze I didn't know when it started or when it had finished because the whole time I just stared at Nora, while constantly repeating the question 'why did she jump infront of me?' It was me who was supposed to be shot and lying unconscious.

I felt a little bit relieved when the ambulance stopped right infront of the hospital. One of the paramedics got up and opened the door where she was met by the other paramedic who helped her quickly get Nora out of the ambulance an into the hospital corridors.

I followed them quickly and watched as Nurses approached us shouting orders at one and other. The paramedic's were ordered to take Nora into a operation theatre where the door shut behind leaving me with nothing to do but wait.

"Where is she?" A panicked voice jolted me out of my deep thoughts a long while after Nora was taken into threatre. I looked up to see Sam and Damen both with cuts and bruises covering every inch of their faces.

"She's in there," I pointed to the room that I had been sitting outside of for I don't know how long.

"Has anyone given any news?" Damen asked, voice ful of concern and worry. I had always wondered to myself as to why Damen would help me keep Nora safe by siding with Adam not so long ago but as I look at him now I can see clearly that he had feels for Nora. Does Nora feel the same? I looked away from Damen, scared that the reality of their relationship would be something more than just friends but it was Sam I looked at now and he had a werid expression on his face. One that sad I know what your thinking.

"What happened with Adam?" I asked in a rush, one to distract Sam from examining my face and two, because I couldn't believe it hadn't crossed my mind early.

"He got away," they both replied with saddness clear in their voice.

"Shit!" not good at all!
