Never Stood a Chance

Last Day Before Summer

BEEEP. BEEEP.

 I woke up at 6 a.m., extremely ecstatic. I proceeded to take a shower. I got dressed, applied makeup, and straightened my hair. After I was satisfied with my look, I walked downstairs to the kitchen. I grabbed a granola bar and poured a glass of orange juice.

 I was the only one awake this morning. I heard a horn outside, signalling my ride for school was here. I grabbed my bookbag, then locked the door on my way out. I walked to the old beetup bug that belonged to my bestfriend.

 "Goodmorning sweetcakes," Alana said in her normal,cheerful mood.

"Morning," I replied back with just as much cheeriness.

 Alana is the same age as me, 17, and we are basically like sisters. Alana is about 5'5" with short brown hair and brownish/greenish eyes.  I am about 5'3" with dirty blonde hair with big brown eyes. While she is the more outgoing, talkative type; I am the more laid back, reserved type.

 Alana started blasting Cher Lloyd's Want You Back. Apparently that's her favorite song at the moment, but it will change by the end of the week. 

 I looked up at the sign that read Sumterville High School and couldn't help but feel excited to be getting out for my last summer break. Yes, today is my last day as a junior. We both hopped out excitedly and proceeded to enter the building.

"I'm so excited that today is our last day til' after the summer! I can't wait to go to the beach and meet some hotties with a body!" I laughed at Alana's antics.

"I am so glad your parents said you could come with us this summer on vacation! We are going to have so much fun! All we have to do is endure our last day and then it's heeeeello California men and goodbye North Carolina boys!" Alana pretty much shouted.

"Hey guys!" I turned as I saw one of my other bestfrieds, Trevor, making his way towards us. He was about 5'10". Trevor has black hair,with gorgeous hazel eyes,and eyelashes any girl would envy. To strangers he is shy, but once you break into his little bubble he is the funniest guy you could ever meet.

"Sup Trev" I said as he came towards us.

"Hey Trev, did your mom ever say if you could come with us on vacation?" Alana asked as she turned to Trev.

"Yes, I did. But, apparently I can't cause I have to go to Ohio to see my Aunt and cousins this summer. You have no idea how much I begged, but she wouldn't budge." Trevor pouted.

We laughed as we walked through the hallway on the way to our lockers so we could clean them out. Our lockers are close to each other because we all have first block together. So we all just emptied out the trash, got our books and started to take them to first block. Basically all we have to do today is make-up exams and return all our books.

After we returned everything we needed to, the principal called us into the gym for an assmebly before we got out of school for the summer. He was telling us how we had a great year and he's going to miss the seniors, but he can't wait for the new year...blah,blah, blah. In the meantime, everyone else is telling their friends what they are planning on doing for summer.

I talked to a bunch of my friends listening to what they are planning on doing and listening to Alana tell them what we were planning on doing.

Alana's family is pretty wealthy. With her dad being a bigtime laywer and her mom being a physician, they anything but poor. So every year they go on a big trip. Well this year is the first year that they are going across the country. See, we live in a small town in the North Carolina, while we are going all the way to California. Seeing as I am her best friend/sister, she invited me along. So, after much pleading my mom finally allowed me to go.

I looked up as I heard the principal say to have a great summer and we're dismissed. I turned to Alana and she dragged me to the car, after saying bye to our friends and a few others, we reached the bug and drove to her house. My stuff is already here because we have to leave early in the morning.

 I couldn't help but think about how this vacation is going to go. Anything with Alana will be interesting, but I couldn't help but feel that something big was going to happen.
