"What the heck was that about?" I question, out of confusion.

"He has no right to do that," Violet remarked.

Louis is a nice person. I know that, so it baffles me why someone would just attack him like that.

"It really isn't a big deal, actually. He does that to everyone. I guess you girls just haven't noticed," Louis chimes in.

"Well, yeah he does, but he should just knock it off before I put him in the ground," Marlon enlightens.

"Typical boys... always wanting to resort to violence," Violet sighs.

"Hey, that's not true. Well, at least not for me," Louis said.

"We should, y'know, let a teacher know about this," Sophie suggests.

"Couldn't agree more, sis," Minerva says.

"I suppose we will, then," I agree with them.

We heard a whistle, and that was our sign telling us that recess time is over. I get in the line with my class. Sophie and Minerva are in different classes. Sophia goes to her class line, Violet stays with Minerva a bit more.

"See you later, bestie," Minerva smiles at Violet.

"You, too, Minnie," Vi hugs her, then joins our class in line.

As we're waiting for our class to be let back inside, I look ahead of me. Oh, geez, it's him. You know, him. Mitchell. Of course he has to be in front of me. He's so dang tall, I can't see ahead of me.

I go to my locker to put my jacket in it. Also to get my supplies for my next class. As I close my locker, I am instantly greeted very creepily by Marlon. He was standing behind my wide open locker, waiting for me to close it.

"Oh my gosh, Marlon. Listen, don't sneak up on me like that," I gasp for air.

Oh my goodness. He nearly gave me a heart attack.

"Uh, sorry. Didn't mean to scare you. Okay, I did mean to scare you, but the point is I talked to Mr. Everett about Mitch. He said he'll keep an eye on him," Marlon filled me in.

"That's good. Finally, someone with the brains to help us. If this is what day one is like, I can't wait to see what all the others will be like," I say sarcastically.

"Oh, you'll get to used it. We do not have that many bad people here. I mean, there's Mitch. He was established as a jerk. Oh, then there is this weird kid named James. All he does is whispers and eats crayons. Yeah, he's a 'special' kid. You'll know him when you see him," Marlon shares with me.

"Wow, that's uh... something. Say, who's that girl who tried talking to you while we were out there? Brown hair, ponytail, jeans," I want to know.

"Oh, that would be Brody. She's been my friend for about as long as I can remember. We've always been in the same class, however this year we aren't. She is in the twins' class. Speaking of the twins, they have a little brother named Tennessee. 'Tenn' for short. He doesn't talk much. He's in Ms. Saritia's kindergarten class," Marlon fills me in once more.

"He was adopted. Born in Africa, raised here," Marlon adds.

"That's amazing," I smile.

"I'd love to keep talking, Marlon, but we got a class to go to," I mention.

"Certainly," he responds.

We head into the classroom. I do not know if elementary schools still do this, but back then there was a period in the day called snack time. This school did have this. It was just chilling out. Having a snack or two, watching a video.

I sit at my desk, start eating some celery and drinking some milk. Marlon's eating some Goldfish chips, and Violet is drawing on herself in the back. A Magic School Bus episode is playing on the smartboard.

I notice Louis at his desk, too. He is eating some Wheat Thins. He's also drawing in his notebook. I wanna check up on him.

"Hey, are you okay, Louis? How you holding up?" I show some concern.

"I'm alright. If you still want to talk about what happened during recess, it does not matter at the slightest. He's always been a bully and a jerk. He doesn't just attack me. Others, too. He has always been like this, and that's the way it'll always be."

"'The way it'll always be'? C'mon, Louis. Look, I'm new here. I don't know what goes on with you or him, but still. He shouldn't hurt you anymore," I try to whisper, so no one can hear this conversation besides Louis and Marlon.

"It is bad indeed, but trust me, telling on him will only make things worse. Just ask Marlon. Show her, Marlon."

Marlon rolls down his sleeve, and there's a giant bruise on his arm. Oh my gosh.

"So yeah," Lou scratches the back of his head.

After a few more classes, the day was over. My first day at the new school was pretty eventful to say the least. I felt like some kind of movie star since being labeled as the "new girl".

I see my mom pull up. I get in the backseat of the car, and she drives me home. With my parents having very important jobs, it is rare we're all home together as a family. This is one of those rare times.

I help my mom set the table, and dinner's ready. My parents sit down and so do I.

"So Clementine, how was your first day of school?" My dad asked me.

I told them about the class I'm in and the friends I made. I told them about, Violet, the twin sisters, Louis, and Marlon.

"Sounds like it was a good day for you," my mother says.

"Yes... however there is one small problem..." I clear my throat.

"What would that be?" My dad wonders.

"A couple friends I told you about; Marlon and Louis... well, they get bullied by a boy named Mitch, and I wish I could help. I could tell an adult again, but I have a feeling if I do that again, it could get worse," I admit.

"Mhm, you should anyway. I mean, he's only a kid. He can't do much if he gets in trouble. He should know better. He'll learn," my mom says.

Okay, I'll listen. It may be good or bad to do it. Though, it will most likely be good. My message to you, Mitchell: don't hurt him anymore.
