Chapter 6
"N-Nicki," I stammered. "W-what are you doing here? How did you know I'd be here?"
"I was texting Adam and he said, 'GTG, going to Gazebo with Em. TTYL." She read off her phone. Nicki crossed her arms and demanded an explanation. I opened my mouth to speak, but was interrupted by another car stopping not too far away...
"Hey, Em," Adam said after the car drove away. "What's up?"
I was too stunned to speak and kept looking back and forth to their confused faces. So, I stood up and started running down the street.
"Emma, WAIT!" I heard Nicki call. I also heard feet running behind me. I hoped they were Nicki's because I still had to tell her about Adam. Then, they stopped. I glanced behind my back to see that it wasn't Adam or Nicki following me... it was just some random jogger dude... He didn't even take a peek at me.
I stopped running and looked around. Nobody else was close so I just kept walking down the street, even when an average-height, blond, and totally cute guy started walking beside me...
"Hey." He said to me in the sweetest voice, even sweeter than Vladimire. The guy had shaggy blond hair that covered almost down to his gorgeous blue eyes. He was super cute and I recognized him instantly.
"Trenton? What are you doing here?" I said wiping away my tears.
"What? I'm not allowed to see my best friend when she's upset?" He replied with that signature smile of his.
"Of course you're allowed, I love your company." I smiled and then buried my face into his shoulder and let the tears fall. He was always a good listener with my problems and never cared about how much I complained. That's what I loved about him most. "I don't know what to do Trenton! I want to tell Nicki about the kiss but I just can't... and Vladimire hates me... he thinks I don't like him, but the truth is.... I don't even know if I do anymore...."
We walked in silence for a while, and for the first time in my life, something actually seemed... right.
