Chapter 3: Rituals

Season 2: Episode 14

"Buffy's not here. She didn't check in." I say, walking through the library's double doors.

"That's it, she's missing, we have to go look for her," Willow says, getting up from her seat.

Just then, Buffy walks into the library. Relief washes over me as she looks around, " Hey."

" Where's Angel?" Willow asks.

Buffy shrugs, " He didn't check in with you?"

We all shake out head as Buffy says that the Judge is very much alive and planning to kill every single living thing on the planet. I sit back, " Oh lovely, just another Tuesday morning in Sunnydale."

With this, I lay on the table, looking up at the lights. After a few minutes, Giles comes over. " You are still looking for ways to stop the Judge, aren't you?"

I roll over and pick up the book I was using as a headrest, " Yup. So far there's nothing."

Giles sighs and goes over to his office, leaving me alone in the library.

Night had now fell, the stars twinkled above the cemetery. I walk home from a long night at the library, still finding no way to kill the judge. Glancing around, I see the shape of a large man coming out of the building. I'd seen this shape before, it was Angel. Running up to him I smile.

"There you are, we've been looking all over for you."

Angel turns around. Right away, I can sense something off about him, the way he looked, was different. " Are you all right?"

Angel smirks, " I'm perfectly fine Aurora. You might want to check on your slayer though, she may have some problems."

My heart drops, " What did you do?"

" It's what she did really, she made me like this. She changes me when we made love, it was just so... soul taking."

I step back. Buffy had done some things with Angel that I was unaware of. " So you're Angelus again?" I breathe.

Angel twirls around, " The one and only. And now, I'm going to kill you."

His face shifts into the vampire form. I back away as he draws nearer. Whimpering, I turn, and run through the streets. He growls, chasing after me. I head for the school, I need to tell the others. When I get their, Angel was gone. Heading in through the back entrance to the library, I see Giles in the middle of the room. He turns as I run up to him, grabbing his arms. " Its Angel, he's not himself, he lost his soul." I heave.

Giles looks at me in concern, ushering me to a chair, " What?"
I take a deep breath, "I was walking home and I saw Angel. He was acting strange and then he tried to kill me. He said Buffy had changed him."

Giles takes off his glasses, " Angel has no soul?"

I nod, looking around. With this, Xander bursts through the doors, " Hey guys, I found Angel, he's with Willow."

In alarm, I bolt from the library, finding Ms. Calender standing with a cross. A few feet away was Willow, held down by Angel. " Let her go Angel." Ms. Calender says.

Willow struggles against his arms, " No, I think I'll keep her."

Xander and Giles catch up, jaws dropping at the sight ahead of us. "I got a message for Buffy." Angel hisses, squeezing Willow's neck.
