Link never spoke. None of the generations did. It was a sacred vow to remain silent, to be humble, while being the hero of the era. Some occasionally found it hard not to speak, but others found it zen. It was definitely something to be proud of, though.

Up in the skyloft, Link walked through the fields of perfectly green grass, by the waterfall, the wind blowing at such a perfect speed his hat rippled softly. It was silent besides the ocassional sound of an animal, but he wasn't alone. He was with the fair princess, who sashayed through the grass, smiling.
At such a sight of a happy Zelda, it made Link blush. How beautiful, he thought. There was no rule against falling in love, but it wasn't exactly encouraged, although, Link couldn't help it. None of the ancestors could. Zelda was always just flawless.
"Link!" Zelda ran over, her dress flying back behind her, along with her hair. The sight made Link's heart dance.
The girl grabbed onto one of his hands and started swinging the two around until they both fell on the grass, out of breath. Zelda still held Link's hand and he was very aware of it. He focused and felt all of Zelda's features in her hand.
How soft it was, the way her fingers clung to his, the grooves in the skin where it regularity bent.
Link closed his eyes and took in a deep breath, then felt Zelda shift up to look at him. "Can you please say something?" She begged, smiling. Link almost gave in. Her smile was so easy to get lost in and so badly did he want to please her and speak, but he knew he couldn't break the oath.
He shook his head no, and to which was suspected, Zelda frowned. "I understand. It wasn't right of me to ask," she said softly and pulled her fair hand out of Link's grip.
Link immediately felt sad. Her touch was gone and he felt sad. He was already longing for it, aching for her soft skin against his worn hands, covered in callouses.

Link didn't move his mouth much, but when he did, it was to mouth out the name, Zelda. He knew he couldn't, and shouldn't speak, but mouthing a name once in a while shouldn't be blasphemy.

Link slowly sat up and got up to leave, but a hand grabbed him. "Link..." He turned back and watched the girl's eyes. They looked sad. "So you're just leaving me?" Her voice sounded utterly heartbroken, at the verge of tears. "I suppose," she dropped his hand. "You have to go save Hyrule again?"
Just then a Loftwing flew overhead, marking some unknown omen and Link dropped to the ground grabbing both her hands. Forgive me, your highness, his eyes tried to beg. She seemed to understand and brought her lips near his.
"I've waited too long," she whispered. Link tried to not seemed phased and kept moving his face closer and closer to the princess's, eventually touching his lips to hers. Like her hands, they were deathly soft and warm.
Nothing more, he instructed himself.
A word had slipped out of his mouth and though it was only a whisper, Zelda heard it as clear as day, when it slipped from his lips to hers, falling into her body. She won't ever forget how soft and soothing the quiet voice made as it whispered her name.Shoot wanted this to be longer, but I'm happy with this outcome, so I'm going to keep it. Thanks for reading :)
