2: New beginning…Possibly

Darkness, all I see is darkness. I fell tightness in my chest, I can’t breathe properly.  It was like I was being crushed.  Suddenly, I hear whispers indistinct and faint, it was like a constant buzzing in my ear.  I shook my head trying to rid of the inane buzzing that was driving me mad.

“Stop it, stop it, STOP IT!!!” I bellowed into the darkness.

My voiced echoed through the oblivion not solving anything. This can’t be death, its too chaotic and dark and painful.  I felt myself getting hot and I started to get sweaty and uncomfortable. I moaned rolling around in pain and confusion, then the whispers started again.  I could hear some words echoing through the darkness.

“Wake…” the words got faint and then I heard, “Wake up” and the words got faint again.

The heat got cooler and the sweating stopped.

Sudden a shout echoed through the oppressing darkness, “WAKE UP!!!”

I swirled around looking for the source.

“How, I can’t find the way?!” I shouted back into the darkness.

“Find the light, hurry, your time is running out,” the voice faded.

I swirled around scanning the darkness for a light. At last, I found it, it was a small pinpoint like a star, and it could easily be overlooked. I ran toward it, it was like running through water, hard and slow, but the light seem to grow with every step I took.

“Jump now,” the voice said suddenly and I jumped, the light enveloped me completely.

The whispers became voices and the heated temperature became cool.  The suppressing darkness was no more; I took in a much-needed deep breath. I felt something cool on my forehead.  I moaned softly and my eyes fluttered open and blinked several times.  I saw a dark ceiling and then I moved my head and saw a young woman sitting on a stool reading. I cleared my throat softly and the woman looked up.

“Oh dear, you have finally awakened,” she got up and placed the book on the stool and walked toward me.

She took off the cold cloth on my head and went to a basin next to me and dipped the cloth and wringed it out and placed it back on my head.

“Water,” I rasped.

“Of course, dear one,” she reached for the goblet next to her and with on hand she lifted my head and with the other she tipped the cup upward and cool water rushed down my mouth and throat quenching a painful thirst.

“Where am I, how long was I out?”

“Patience, dear one, you have been out for a week as for the other question, it is not my place to say.  Rest, dear one, all your questions will soon be answered.”

Her voice was filled with sincerity I had no choice to accept it.

“I have to go somewhere, but I’ll be back, sleep,” she ordered softly.

I relaxed against the silky sheets and sleep take me once me.

A voice echoed in my head, “Sleep well, young one.”

I slipped into a peaceful sleep.
