[Mystic Grill]

Waking up to a text from Elena inviting her for lunch wasn't something Alura expected. The two weren't exactly close and to be honest Alura wasn't a fan of her attitude. Still she agreed, might as well try to get along if she was going to be staying in town.
Elena wasn't entirely bad to be around when she wasn't with the Salvatore brothers. Alura felt that the girl just had some growing up to do. The two were in the middle of a conversation about hobbies when Damon decided to bug the two. "What do you want?" Elena snaps at the raven-haired Salvatore the second he strolls up to the table

"So, this is where you spend your time when you're not stabbing people in the back." Damon states staring down Elena.

Alura was not in the mood to deal with the two arguing while she ate her fries."Seriously, can't you two drop it?" All she wanted was to eat her meal in peace.

"I tricked you into telling me the truth that's not stabbing you in the back, it's using your own tactics against you." Elena replies as a she gets up. There is was, that attitude that irked Alura to no end.

"Where are you going?" Damon asks looking at Elena and then back to Alura. Ali shrugs continuing to eat her fries.

"I made myself clear, Damon. I want nothing to do with you." Elena glares at him.

"Okay. See you at Jenna's barbecue." Damon's comment takes both girls by surprise. Mostly because Jenna hated Damon, but also because Jenna had just texted both girls about it not 20 minutes earlier.

"How do you know about Jenna's barbecue?" Elena narrows her eyes at Damon.

"It was my idea. Jenna went to high school with Mason Lockwood so I figured a social gathering would be an effective way to get to know the guy. So, I told Ric to tell Jenna and..." Damon explains stealing a fry from Alura's basket. She swats his hand away giving him a playful glare.

"Does Jenna know that you're going to be there because she's not exactly a fan of yours." Alura couldn't help the smirk on her face as she questioned her best friend. That's when a waitress arrives and gives him a box with a pie in it.

"Perfect. Thank you. I'm hoping this peach cobbler will pave the way." Damon takes the pie from the woman.

"What are you up to?" Elena asks, she and Alura look at each other, both knowing he's up to no good.

"I'm going to put some silver into Mason Lockwood and prove he is a werewolf. See you at the barbecue." Damon leaves with no further explanation, leaving both girls nervous about his plans.

Alura looks over at Elena "This is not going to go well. He's only going to piss Mason off." Elena nods in agreement.

[Gilbert's house]

Later on that evening Alura and Elena made it back to the Gilbert residence for Jenna's Barbecue. Jenna had led them into the kitchen where she was finishing preparations.
"Thanks for letting me invite Caroline. She could use a day of distraction." Elena states looking at her aunt.

"Well, she's not the plus one that I'm worried about. Why is Damon coming?" Jenna frowned, she truly didn't want Damon anywhere near her niece.

"Because Alaric is a pity taker. Come on Jenna, be nice. He really isn't all that bad. I promise." Alura pleads for her friends sake.

"I'll be nice when Damon learns to keep his paws off you." Jenna says looking at Elena. She mouths "Katherine" when Ali looks at her confused. She nods back in understanding.

That's when Mason walks into the kitchen. "Good news! I found the shot glasses!" Mason says grinning.

"That would be my exit." Elena leaves the kitchen giving Alura a look that says watch them.
