Calum stood in the open door and leaned his body agains the door frame while looking a me. ”May I come in?” He asked me and I nodded my head and he walked in and shut the door behind him. He stood in front of me awkwardly and I wondered why he even was here in the beginning.
”Why are you here and not Ash?” I asked him, I actually wondered it. Since Ashton always comes after me when I’m sad I figured it would be him that stood in front of me instead of Calum.
”I said I went to bed because I was tired, and I wanted to check that you were okay.” He said and smiled a bit, not a real smile though, just a sympathetic smile. ”So are you?”
I shrugged my shoulders. ”It’s not because of what Michael said, it’s just.. I don’t know” I said and looked down. It’s hard to talk about how you feel, and especially to a hoy guy who you barely know.
”It’s okay, you don’t have to tell me” He said and I felt that he actually meant it. It’s not that I don’t what to tell him all the things that goes round in my mind, it’s just that I cant’t put words on my thoughts and feelings and it’s driving me completely crazy.
”Why are you so nice to me all the sudden?” I ask and look up to him and see his confused face.”No, I don’t mean in in a mean way, it’s just that I-”
”I think you’re interesting” He cut me off. That wasn’t anything I normally would hear. It made me smile, even though I didn’t understood it properly.
”Thank you, I think” I said and gave him a warm smile, a real smile. Calum looked around a bit in my room, he has never been here before. Almost no boy has ever been in my room. I had plain white walls and a painting on the long side of the room. The window was big and had a view to the backyard. I had a desk, closet and a bed and that was all. He made his way to my desk and took down a picture, that was stuck to my wall, and looked at it. A smile spread on his way and he showed me the picture like I hadn’t seen it before. It was a picture of me and Ashton when I was six and he was nine. We sat at the staircase at our old house with our old golden retriever in front of us. Both Ashton and I had a big smile on our faces and the light set beautifully on the side of the picture, I loved that picture.
”You look happy” He said and looked at the picture again with the same smile as before. ”I like your smile”. I blushed and looked away, this was so weird, this normally doesn’t happen to me.
”Was this your dog?” He asked and handed me the picture and I looked down at the dog in front of the small kids.
”Yeah” I said ”His name was Max, he got run over by a drunk driver when I was 12” I handed him the picture again and he put it back on my wall. I didn’t really wanted to talk about my dead dog. I missed him and mom wanted to get a new dog but I couldn’t stand the idea of hearing another dog barking instead of Max.
”I’m sorry” Was the only thing Calum said. I mean, what else could he said. There wasn’t a lot of alternative to that. ”It’s okay, i’m over it now” I said to Calum and he smiled. I had noticed that he had some bruises on his cheek earlier but didn’t want to ask him bout it then but I wanted to know, like the curious little kid i am.
