She didn't remember much before it happened. Memories of shouting and light and screaming sometimes came to her in nightmares. She had also the faintest impression that she was supposed to be someone important.
Sometimes people came to visit her. She didn't remember their names but they were nice. Unfortunately their visits had become shorter and with longer periods of time in between. It was often a red haired guy with freckles and a black haired boy with glasses that still came. But even those visits faded into almost nothing.
There was only one person who still came a couple times a week. She didn't know who he was but she liked him. He brought her good food and while she ate he talked. A lot of the time he talked too fast or used complicated words but once in a while she was well enough to hold a conversation with him. The blond boy always seemed so happy when she did that. She liked seeing him smile so she fought with nails and teeth to stay that way more then usual. But it took a toll on her. She started getting more tired but repressed it. She stared eating less but repressed it. She would do anything to keep that smile on the blond boy with the grey eyes lips.
Her weight had always been a little on the light side but now it had dropped down to almost dangerous levels. She hadn't noticed how light she had gotten. Her whole world now revolved around that smile of his. The boy started bringing more food and she ate it all but her weight still didn't change. Some of her former visitors began to drop by more frequently. Their worried faces never changed her mood. Until she saw her blond visitor worried face. She tried to ask him what was wrong but nothing that came out of her mouth was even close to words. After a few tries over a couple days she gave up. She went from mumbling nonsense to not saying anything. From one day to another she stopped talking.
Sometimes when she was alone in the night she would try and talk but nothing except nonsense came out. At this point her body was a wreck and very very light. Her immune system was down. They poured potion after potion into her in hope of getting some of it back up but it was to late.
A simple cold. That was all it had been. One little cold and everything shut down. The fever had started in the early night and she was found dead the next morning. A healer had walked inside her room and screamed for help. They tried everything but she was gone.
The funeral was a simple ceremony. Many people they didn't knew had meet up. People that she had saved. Many tears was shed. But what they didn't knew was that she had found something she had been looking for her whole life.
In death Hermione Granger had found peace.
