"Long before the world was born, there was an all powerful magic. Its name was truth. It was the source of all the good and righteous in the universe. It was there before all, with us now and will always be there."
Sophia read from some of her old notes as the sun began to set in Worcester. "How does one learn truth?" asked an odd skinny girl, mysteriously standing at the front desk of the only public library in the city. "Oh I didn't notice you listening but, ah we don't. We have always known it, but to harness it, is something not many know how to do. You see, truth is somewhat confusing to all beings."
"It's the reality some fear. Truth is genuine. Truth is what you see before you. Now, just because some can't see certain things, does not mean it isn't true." She pauses for a moment and smiles and gives a tiny chuckle. "That's where the ability to believe comes in. The act we call "hope". But that only takes you half way. Should you take this leap of faith, it would bring you much closer to truth. It brings you closer to the things you want to believe in. Making them a reality to you. BUT, who am I anyways. I'm just an old lady with tales no one seems to care about."
Sophia sighed, and starting packing things up. "It's almost time for this place to close young lady. Did you need anything?" Celine looked down quickly. "Oh yes, I need a new library card. I axcidently lost mine." The young girl started looking around in what seemed to be a hand me down bag made of old jeans. "Here's my ID." Sophia took hold of the ID and stared at it for a moment. "Celine Harper, age 17 huh." The old librarian set the ID down and started walking to the back of the building. "Give me a minute".
As Celine watched in confusion, the woman came back out with two items in her hands. "Here's your new Card and um, I think you might find this book interesting. If you don't,just return it tomorrow." Sophia handed her a medium sized book that was made of leather and on it was a emblem with no words. "But, what's it about mam?" asked Celine. "Just bring it home and give it a look. We are closed now so please just come back tomorrow."
The old woman walked Celine to the doors and saw her out. She locked them, turned around and had a ghostly look on her face. She then walked back to the desk and pulled put a strange photo of another young lady. "As the sun begins to set, the moon begins to rise. A star is born as another dies." She whispered this to the photo and gave it a kiss. "I can't believe it's time." Sophia put the photo in her pocket, laughed into the air with a joy of some sort.
Celine stepped out onto the side walk with book in hand. She was a tall, skinny girl with very long chocolate brown hair. Three freckles on each cheek and lips as pink as roses. She was a very sweet young lady who was to be 18. Her dark green eyes glistened as the last beam of sun light left the sky. "This lady must be nuts!" she thought to herself. "It's probably some crappy OLD people book. What ever." As she tucked the book away, she started walking home.
She didn't live far from the library. Celine was placed in a foster home 10 years ago back when her parents had passed away on the night of her birthday. She had just turned only 7 on that tragic night. Silvia Brown, whom was her social worker and still is, tells her that a neighbor called the police and when they had arrived to their house, they were pronounced dead. Strange thing was the Celine didn't remember her parents at all. Almost as though they never existed to her. Celine actually says that she doesn't remember anything from that night or beyond it.
Aside from that, today in this day in age she lives with her foster parents. The Rosellas. Now, here are some things you need to know about them. One, the Rosellas were both woman. Two, they both claimed to be gypsies and three; they were two of the most amazing people you could ever meet. The couple was the first to take in Celine at her young age and from then on, that's how it stayed. These two Latin influenced woman spoiled her so much that a lot of girls envied Celine. Even some of the other fosters that came and went.
As a child Celine was always very clumsy and stubborn. She was picked on a lot growing up in school for just wanting to be herself. She had this kind of dark side people saw in her but it wasn't really as it seemed. Inside what she always wanted most was to know who she really was. Seeing as she could not remember having parents, or her life before that. All in all she was strong. Always took on the bullies and never feared anyone. She had to amazing guardians at her side. Protecting her and giving her all the advice she needed.
Leonora and Penelope Rosella starting taking in foster children two years before they got a hold of young Celene. They were both young. Leo being 20 and Nelo 22, decided to take on the task of care taking for children when they both knew it would be a passion of theirs. Maybe there was something more to it but that we don't know. Leo lived in this very big house her grandmother had left to her after she had passed away. Like Celine, Leo's parents both passed away when she was but a child.
Knowing what she had gone through, she never wanted children to be without parents like her. So that's where it started. Nelo stood by side her and her decisions when the two fell in love after high school. Now, being "gypsies" and all, one should wonder if they knew what the future was holding for them. Not that all future gypsies have the power of sight. But some posses powers even others cant describe. These two played an even bigger role. As the people they became. Guardians.
Celine walked into the house, put down her bag and slumped onto the couch. "Celine, where did you just come from? We don't get a hi or anything? "Leo walked into the living room and sat next to Celine while giving her a kiss on the forehead. "Ma I'm turning 18 soon, and this kissy stuff is for babies! Sheesh! "Celine whined as Nelo came walking into the living room as well. Before she sat down she noticed that strangely Celine's bag had caught her attention.
"Celine honey?" Nelo asked with a strange look on her face. "Yes ma?" Celine looked up at her and wondered what was going on. "What's in the bag?" Nelo picked up the bag, opened it and took the book out. "Oh that's just some crappy book the old woman at the library wants me to read. I'm not s.." Nelo interrupted and looked at Leo. "Sweet heart I think it's time, if Sophia gave her the book, then it must be." Celine got up and stared at the, both in confusion. "Time for what? And how do you know the librarian, you guys barely leave the house? I'm confused!"
"Celine, please sit down. We have something ..... Something to tell you sweetie but ... you can't get angry at us, and please, try think with an open mind when we tell you." Leo pulled out a chair and Celine sat down. She looked frightened and sad at the same time but over all had a very confused look on her face. "Well 10 years ago, your parents." Leo paused and looked over at Nelo and sighed. "Honey your parents were murdered on your 7th birthday. The reason why you don't remember is because the memories of that event and anything before it were erased." Leo took hold of Nelo and Celine's hands.
Celine stood up and laughed. "Can you guys please be serious and stop joking around with me? One, memories can't be erased. Two, you guys weren't even there, and three, what on earth does this have to do with the book and how did you know it was in my bag? AND how do you know Sophia!? Leo and Nelo looked at each other. "Honey please you need to listen. The reason you dont remember is because we took the memories from you. You're parents weren't just murdered. They were in a battle with a dark force. His name is Von Ferdinand. He was after you and this book."
Leo handed her the book and got up. She quickly walked over to the left side of the living room wall and took down a frame of her grandmother. Behind it was a tiny black safe. She entered the combination 6-25-03. This was the exact date Celine's parents had died. Leo pulled a vile out of the safe and threw it to Nelo. "Careful hun, these are her memories!" Nelo pulled out a crystal ball from the cabinets nearby. "It's time to show what really that night. Are you ready Celine?" Celine started passing back and forth. "You guys are really starting to creep me out. How the hell are you going to be able to show me? What game are you all playing here?" Nelo took her by the hand. "Listen this is no game, this about your life. I'm showing you your past so you can get ready for the future. Now SIT."
In complete shock that she had just gotten yelled at for the first time in years, Celine slowly took a seat. "Give me your hand, Leo you take the other and mine. It's time to go back." As the three held hands, and the sweat started to drip down Celine's face from nervousness, the ball began to levitate. Nelo proceeded to speak to the crystal ball. "I call upon the keeper of the sunset moon. Guide us with light to the past we seek. Take these memories before us and give us the sight, but have us three back before mid night!"
When Nelo finished speaking, just like that the girls disappeared into the light. The crystal ball dropped to the ground and all turned quiet. As reality started to kick in, the girls could see and hear but they were nowhere to be seen. They could not feel or speak. It was as though they were the memory. It was a scary feeling for all three of them. This was the first time in many years that the Rosellas did any magic as gypsies. They had kept it all a secret from Celine until she was ready to learn what True power was all about. But now she was about to find out.
The memory begins at the Harper house hold. It was June 25th 2003. In the house was this adorable little girl with short brown luscious curls. Light green eyes and a huge smile. With her was her mother Celestine Harper and Father, Eugene Harper. Like every year they would have a giant cup cake with candles all over it and one special one that would light up like a fire work. Just after singing happy birthday, the front door swings open. The frightened couple tells young Celine to run up stairs and she does. A dark figure came misting into the door way. As he made his way into the house, a dark chilling voice started to speak.
"Where is the book?" The voice echoed throughout the house! Eugene grabbed a strange looking stick out of his pocket and pointed it at the figure. "Please leave my family alone. You are forbidden from seeing, or touching the book. " Eugene stepped in front of Celestine and began to mumble some words in nervousness. "Ignire Ma..." Time had frozen for a moment. Eugene had not been able to finish. He and Celestine were taken by mist as it crept slowly around them. It consumed the whole house.
When the mist got poor Celine, she was up stairs in the closet next to a book. It began to glow and the mist got pushed away and blasted out of the house. When she ran down stairs, she saw two bodies lying on the ground and started to yell. "MOMMY, DADDY!" She screamed. After a few minutes of crying while lying next to them, she fell right to sleep. Moment's later police showed up. A woman who resembled Sophia was also with them, telling them she heard a little girl screaming from inside. When they got in they picked up Celine and laid her in the ambulance. The old woman waited till the police cleared out the building and made her way up stairs. She took hold of the book and vanished into the darkness of the night.
While at the hospital, Celine is encountered by a social worker who is accompanied by Younger Leo and Nelo. Still asleep, the girls wait for her to awaken. Into the room walked in an old man. "Young gypsies?" says the old man to the girls. "This is no ordinary girl. Take good care of her. Use your powers to erase memories she has. The time will come when book appears in her hands again. That's when it will all begin again. With no questions asked the girls looked at each other and did as he asked. As Young Celine started to open her eyes, the memory starts to fade away into the light and the girls are warped back to their time. When the three let go of each other's hands, Celine collapses as she begins to feel week. "You guys I.. I don't feel so.. goo.." The poor girl had fainted.
The next morning there was no visible sun rise. The skies were dark and cloudy. The rain was hitting hard and the winds blew at about 50mph. Leo sat at the kitchen table staring outside. In her right hand she rotated pixie jingles. They were used to remove the worry and stress from the mind. In her left hand a cup of jasmine tea. Next to her was Nelo. She was mediating with the crystal ball to protect the house incase danger would come for the girl. Upstairs Celine was beginning to awaken. As she opened her eyes, she leaned upward and scratched her head. "That was the strangest dream I have ever had." When she got out of the bed she noticed the book on her desk.
"Oh god." Said Celine in surprise to the see the book as she covered her mouth! "What! No! No no no no NO! This can't be." She started paseing back and forth and for a brief moment, looked at the book and then continued paseing. "Ok maybe Ill just open the damn thing already and see what's it all about." She thought to herself. "hmm. Ok." She sat down on her giant batman throw pillow, reached for the book and set it on her lap. "I'm so done here if the book means nothing!" She slowly grabbed the otter cover and began to open it.
On the very first page of the book there was quote which read "Verum est virtus universum regit". "Great it's in a language i don't even understand." She started flipping through the pages and noticed that they were all empty. "Are you kidding me?" Celine threw the book at the wall. A note fell out of the middle of the book. She went to pick it up and saw that the note said "Should you want to learn how to unlock the book, come see me at 488 lovell st. - Peter Gale ". Celine looked up and the address on her computer and wrote down the directions. She then went down stairs.
"Ok seriously you guys need to give me an Advil." Celine made her way down the stairs to the kitchen where she saw Leo and Nelo waiting with a bag. "What's going on?" Celine looked in confusion. Nelo looked at her and smiled. "Sweetie it's time for you to find out what you really are. There is a man, his name Peter. He will take you under his wing for a while. Consider it a little vacation. You will be able to find yourself." Nelo took Leo by the hand. "Leo and I will always be a part of your life but you need to go on this journy. Even we have un answered questions that only you can figure out.
Celine quickly ran up to them and started to cry. "But you guys, I can't leave. I love you guys but none of this seems real. It's all like some dream that I just can't wake up from." Leo raised her chin. "Mamita, sometimes we have to unwillingly let go of things for better things to come about. But this is all real. Everything that will happen will be real. Just always remember to stay true to your heart." Celine smirked. "Ok. I mean it's not like its good bye right. Ill be back when im done." Nelo patted her head and began to giggle. " Of course! You're our daughter, blood or not. Now, alls that missing is how to find Peter."
Celine sighed, shook her head and handed Nelo the note. "It fell out of the book." Leo took one final sip of her tea. "Then that's it. Just please be careful. Come back home to us safe. Oh and I have something for you." Leo pulled an old necklace from shirt pocket. "It's moon stone. One of the rarest of elements. It will protect you always, so long as you wear it." Celine put the necklace on and started to tear up. "Thank you guys so much. I'll be back soon I promise "
