NATALIE KANE

I had no idea what had just happened. Cody, the same Cody I was laughing with a week ago, who was so nice and friendly, was about to kill Dylan. He effortlessly held him in the air, with what seemed like superhuman strength, and his eyes and teeth had changed. Not to mention the growls that were coming from him, and his whole demeanor had changed. It was like he was a completely different person. I guess I shouldn't have rolled my eyes when Jenna had told me to careful with him. What did I really know about him anyway?

Cody nervously ran his fingers through his hair. "It's kind of hard to explain." His eyes looked sad and pathetic at the moment, but my emotions were all over the place, I didn't care if I hurt his feelings.

"Well, you better start trying," I snapped. "I have half a mind to call the police." I was bluffing, of course, but he didn't know that. I don't know what I felt for him anymore, but I knew, for some reason, I didn't want him in jail.

Cody's eyes grew wide. "Please, you don't need to do that." I could sense the desperation in his voice. "Listen, I can explain everything, I swear. But it would be so much easier if I could just show you."

"Show me?" Now I was really confused. "Show me what?" I raised an eyebrow at him, as I stared daggers into his eyes.

"Not here," he replied, inching closer towards me. "I need you to come with me."

I laughed cockily and loudly, backing away from him. "You have got to be kidding me." I shook my head, not believing my ears. "You're fucking delusional." I backed away even more, at a slightly faster pace as he moved forward simultaneously. I quickly spun around and took off down the alley.

In what seemed like the blink of an eye, Cody was now right in front of me, and I slammed right into his hard chest. "What are you, the fucking Flash or something? Jesus Christ." I pushed him but he didn't even flinch; he stayed grounded like a statue.

A smirk played on his lips as he stared down at me, and in one fell swoop, he had me pinned against the wall. For the record, I was definitely frightened, but a part of me wanted to slip my hands under his shirt and run my fingers all over his perfectly chiseled abs. Get ahold of yourself, Nat. This man could be a serial killer.

I scowled at Cody and pounded my fists on his chest. "Let me go."

"Natalie." He caught my fists in his hands, squeezing gently, and his eyes softened at me. "I'm not going to hurt you. I would never hurt you." I could feel the sincerity in his words. "Please." Those ice blue eyes, it was like they were staring into my soul. "Come with me."

I sighed and closed my eyes. I didn't feel like arguing anymore and, I'm not going to lie, I did want answers. I chewed the inside of my cheek and opened my eyes to meet his. "Fine." A sense of relief washed over his face as he relaxed his muscles a bit. Surely, I was going to regret this.

Cody took a step back and held out his hand. As I stared at him, still confused about what was going on, he motioned at me to grab it. The last thing I wanted to do right now was hold his hand, but I swallowed hard and took it anyway.

He pulled me close and then effortlessly tossed me onto his back, resting my legs on the crooks of his arms. I gasped and lightly smacked him on the shoulder. "Uh, what are you doing?"

Cody chuckled softly. "Relax. It's easier this way."

My face contorted in confusion. "What's easier?"
