It has been a tradition of my family along with my best friend's family to go to the woods for a week or two during our summer vacation at school. We stay at a cabin that my and my best friend's family bought a few two years ago for when we do this type of activity since it'll cause less than renting one, since we always go here every year since I and my best friend Kris was seven years old.

Kris Taylor have been my best pal since I was in first grade. We became friends after he saved me from the bullies in our class because I used to be really timid, wimpy and cry-baby to the point that my parents almost pulled me out of school.

I idolize him. I have always wanted to be as strong, brave and out-spoken as him. He will always be the person I would like to be even now.

"Hello~ earth to Ethan?! Are you still there?" Kris actually yelled near my ear.

"That freaking hurt! How could you yell at me at that distance? What would you do if I become deaf?" I complained.

"Well if you aren't so out of it and started creepily staring at nothingness with a huge grin on your face then I would not have done that." he said while he stupidly mimic my said facial expression.

"I no I wasn't?"

"You bet you were. What were you grinning about? Oh wait! don't tell me you're imagining nasty stuff awhile ago?"

"I wasn't imaging anything! And what nasty? I just remembered back when we're still in first grade and I followed you around like a lost puppy." I said smiling.

He looked ahead of us with a smile plastered on his face "And you thought I'm a super hero with super powers, you didn't left me alone and continue telling me to make you my side kick so you could become strong." he said grinning from ear to ear.

"I know I was really crazy when I was young, how could you blame me I was only let out to the real world so I can go to school properly."

We continued to talk and talk and reminisce almost all our childhood memories, the time we went to trick or treat one Halloween and I peed my pants when the house owner scared us, or the first time he had a broken heart when the girl he liked likes someone else-and he said he got drunk drinking orange juice just because he became dizzy-which is probably because of too much vitamin C- our conversation went on and on which leds to Kris commenting that I will pass for a girl because of the time I dressed up as a girl for an hour as a dare. I had to wear a crazy long curly wig, a red knee high length dress and a black really high heeled sandals which made me trip and fall on the people on my side and ended up with a sprain on my right foot. That was a total disaster. Seriously, girls comes up with really crazy dares sometimes, its scary.

"We should head back." I said when I realized it's been 2 hours since we have gone to explore on the forest further than we had gone to last year. It's like our goal to go as deep into the forest as we could each year, like breaking the record of the previous year.

"Let's go." He said as we walked back retracing our steps back to the cabin.

We walked in unexpected silence on our way back. He was about to say something when an almost all black wolf more than five feet tall jumped in front of us out of nowhere. We had to look up a bit to be able to meet the wolf's gaze since it's really huge compared to our five feet flat height as 12 years old.

Startled, Kris and I wasn't able to make a move, and so did the wolf. But that was only for a moment. We stared at it for a few seconds when it suddenly growled threateningly at us together with its red scary glare. That's when we started running.

I was't even sure at which direction we went as we run, we just kept running like crazy without any particular destination and all we have in mind was Run and Survive.

We never thought of stopping but we unconsciously did after hearing loud gun shots from somewhere near, followed by a pain filled howl and the voice of my mom calling my name.

When we turned around the wolf was lying on the forest ground not moving?. I was about to run to my mom when Kris grabbed my arm.

"Look, it's shrinking." He pointed towards the wolf.

I thought he was crazy and hallucinating from the adrenaline rush we had while running for our lives but when I looked at it something is definitely changing with the wolf.

I couldn't help but take steps closer to the wolf's perfectly still body. So close that the moment the wolf regained itself I could be easily bitten by it, but I wasn't really worried about that though I was rrunnibg for my life from it moments ago.

As minutes passed by the thick fur of the wolf slowly becomes thin, but it isn't shedding them instead it's like each fur is being retracted back into its skin. Its body slowly reduced in size in time with his fur thinning. Its front and back feet becomes arms and legs, its claws becomes nails and his snout reduced to a face. The wolf turned into a human.

"Did you see that?" I asked Kris not believing what I just witnessed.

"Yeah" he answered as dumbfounded as I was.

"It was a wolf but now its human, normal person. Is he a mutant or something?" I asked, I don't know whether i'm astonished or freaked out?

"It's a creature that can change from human to wolf and wolf to human. I saw it in a book."

"Wow!! What is it called?" I asked amazed.

"Werewolf."
